Hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) are zero emission vehicles and have the potential to play a significant role, alongside battery electric vehicles, in improving air quality and decarbonising road transport. At Budget 2018, the Government concluded that a levy on all cups would not at this point deliver a decisive shift from disposable cups to reusable cups across all beverage types. This conclusion is based on the submissions made to the government during the call for evidence on single use plastic waste and examining alternatives to current single-use cups containing plastic.<p> </p><p>The Government expects industry to go further in taking action on disposable plastic cups and will return to the issue if sufficient progress is not made. This includes 245,970 vehicles where a statutory off-road notification (SORN) has been made. For cars and vans, the exemption is worth between £155 and £255 per year. In 2017-18, HMRC estimate the average exemption for a vehicle in the historic vehicle class was worth £230.
