In early January we committed an extra £300m funding for Network Rail to boost the resilience of the infrastructure along the Brighton mainline and associated routes.</p><p> </p><p>The report could not be published during the pre-election period and we have published the report as soon as possible following the general election.</p>

star this property answer text <p>Network Rail is responsible for carrying out safety risk assessments at Victoria Station. They do these as part of Crowd Control &amp; Emergency Plans, in line with Network Rail’s Managed Stations Standards (MS). These are produced yearly as a minimum, but are also produced for special events and issues when they arise. Any incidents of crowd control or emergency evacuations are logged and recorded, and reported upon weekly to the Route Station Manager. Every incident has a post-incident debrief which is recorded and actions fed back into the plans.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>It is up to the Rail Industry to deliver a timetable that provides passengers with the performance they expect, whilst maintaining safety. Peak services are timetabled to ensure there is sufficient gap between trains to allow passengers to clear platforms and concourse. Note that due to the track and platform layout at Victoria, there is a limit to the number of trains that can arrive in a short space of time at platforms 15-19.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Penalties of £2.3m were imposed in the first year of the franchise for GTR's performance against Cancellations and Peak Short Formations benchmarks. In July 2017, GTR agreed to fund a package of performance and passenger improvements worth £13.4m. This included, contractual penalties of £2.4m for GTR’s performance for the year September 2015 to September 2016, and a settlement of the performance regime for the next two years (September 2016 – September 2018 of £5m for each year).</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>All prisoners are assessed by clinical staff when they arrive in prison. If mental health needs are identified, prisoners are referred for treatment or follow up assessment.</p><p>Safety and security are crucial to supporting better mental health in prisons. We committed to an increase of 2,500 prison officers by the end of 2018, and have recruited 1,255 to date, putting us on track.</p><p>Additional staff will enable us to provide dedicated officers for offenders who will be better placed to recognise and react to changes in behaviour or mental well-being.</p><p>All staff in prisons will receive revised mental health awareness training and, so far, 11,000 have started this training.</p> more like this
