star this property answer text <p>The Government is committed to enforcing the National Minimum Wage (NMW). In 2018/19, HM Revenue &amp; Customs (HMRC) identified a record £24.4 million in arrears for over 220,000 workers and issued over £17 million in penalties to non-compliant employers. We have more than doubled HMRC’s budget for NMW compliance and enforcement since 2015 to £27.4 million for 2019/20.</p><p> </p><p>The Government will resume naming employers found underpaying the NMW. We are reviewing the Naming Scheme to ensure that it continues to effectively support NMW compliance. We will conclude the review during the summer and publish any resulting effects on the operation of the Naming Scheme through the NMW Enforcement policy documents.</p><p> </p><p>We are reviewing the Naming Scheme in response to recommendations made by the Director of Labour Market Enforcement (DLME), Professor Sir David Metcalf</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>As announced in the Government response of December 2018, the review of the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage (NMW) Naming Scheme commenced in response to recommendations made by the Director of Labour Market Enforcement in his 2018/2019 Labour Market Enforcement Strategy. Naming of employers for NMW breaches will recommence once that review has been completed.</p><p> </p><p>We are reviewing the effectiveness of the naming scheme to ensure that our enforcement approach balances the need to crack down on the most egregious non-compliant employers with the need to help employers understand their responsibilities and how to comply.</p><p> </p><p>Naming remains an important part of our enforcement toolkit. Enforcement of the national minimum wage and the national living wage is a priority for this Government to ensure that workers receive at least the Minimum Wage. We have more than doubled the budget for minimum wage compliance and enforcement since 2015, to a record high of £27.4 million. This resulted in over 220,000 UK workers receiving a record £24.4 million in arrears last year.</p>

star this property answer text <p>Enforcement of the National Minimum and National Living Wage (NMW) is a priority for the Government. Since 2015 we have doubled the budget to enforce the NMW and we are taking tough action against the minority of employers who underpay. In 2018/19 HM Revenue &amp; Customs (HMRC) identified a record £24.4 million in arrears for over 220,000 workers and issued over £17 million in penalties to non-compliant employers.</p><p> </p><p>HMRC proactively investigates employers where they identify a risk of non-compliance; this work accounts for around half of all investigations undertaken. In addition, HMRC responds to every worker complaint regarding NMW payment including those made anonymously.</p><p> </p><p>Government is committed to helping employers comply with NMW rules first time; in April we launched a £1 million communications campaign to raise awareness and understanding of NMW rules among both workers and employers.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Earlier this year, in the Government’s response to the Taylor Review of Modern Working Practices, we accepted the review’s recommendation to ask the Low Pay Commission (LPC) to explore the impacts of introducing a higher National Minimum Wage rate for hours that are not guaranteed as part of a contract. Furthermore, we asked the LPC to provide advice on the impacts of alternative options for tackling the issue of one-sided flexibility.</p><p> </p><p>We await the LPC’s assessment of these options.</p> more like this
