star this property answer text <p>The Department has not conducted any recent research on the effect of treatment of staff on standards of care and on the relationship between levels of pay and quality of social care services.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>As part of the development of Caring for our Future white paper in 2011, the Department undertook extensive engagement with both service users and carers who highlighted range of issues they felt needed addressing to ensure high quality care and support is available. In addressing this, the Department, working with the Sector Skills Council - Skills for Care - and other partners, has implemented a range of policies that has included setting out clear minimum training standards, recruiting more apprentices and supporting the transformation of the social work profession.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Social care is funded through a combination of central government grants, council tax and business rates which in the past have remained stable sources of income through economic downturns.</p><p>The Government conducts an ongoing assessment of the sustainability of the local government system. This is a dynamic assessment which reflects emerging analysis of pressures and risks and is kept under review.</p><p>The Government is dedicated to supporting the adult social care system and as such has given councils access to up to £3.6 billion more dedicated funding for adult social care in 2018-19 and up to £3.9 billion for 2019-20. The additional resources will help councils commission care services that are sustainable, diverse and offer sufficient high-quality care and support for people in their areas.</p> more like this

The CMA’s analysis of this issue and the adult social care market is an important part of the evidence base which will feed into the Green Paper on adult social care. star this property answer text <p>NHS Digital statistics record that, in 2017/18, there were 32,115 new requests for services from applicants who were deceased before they received the package. This data records requests for care, not individual deaths as requested, and represents approximately 1.7% of total new requests.</p><p> </p><p>This first mandatory collection of this date was in 2017/18, with complete data for years prior to 2017/18 not available. The data was first collected in 2016/17 via a voluntary collection from local authorities where less than a quarter of local authorities submitted a response. This means that the 2016/17 and 2017/18 figures are not directly comparable; in 2016/17 the voluntary returns from local authorities who recorded 6,580 new requests for services from applicants who were deceased before they received the package, based on returns from 36 out of 152 local authorities.</p> more like this
