star this property answer text <p>The Home Office monitors the number of fee waiver applications for children registering for British citizenship. However, management information in this area is currently being collated, reviewed and assured, and we are therefore not in a position to share figures at this time. We are however considering the best mechanism for updating Parliament with this information when available and will do so at the earliest appropriate opportunity.</p><p>Prior to 16 June 2022, an application to register as a British citizen as a child, required the appropriate application fee to be paid and there was no discretion to waive the citizenship application fee.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The British Nationality Regulations 2003 state a nationality application must contain the person’s name, date and place of birth, and a declaration that the contents are true. This information is contained in a fee waiver request and can be treated as an application for citizenship on the date it is made. No change to the 2003 Regulations is therefore required.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Following the Court of Appeal’s ruling in February last year, the Home Office committed to reviewing the child registration fee in line with its duties under Section 55 of the Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Act 2009.</p><p> </p><p>A Supreme Court hearing on a separate ground in this case took place on 23rd and 24th June 2021, with the judgement handed down on 2 February 2022. It has been important to give the Supreme Court the opportunity to give its view on the questions raised by this case before finalising the Section 55 assessment. We are now able to do so and will conclude the assessment, and associated review of the fee, shortly.</p><p> </p><p>We will share the results in due course.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Home Office acknowledged the Court of Appeal’s ruling of 18 February 2021 and is reviewing the child registration fee in line with its duties under Section 55.</p><p> </p><p>A Supreme Court hearing on a separate ground in this case took place on 23rd and 24th June 2021, with the judgement handed down on 2 February 2022. It has been important to give the Supreme Court the opportunity to give its view on the questions raised by this case before finalising the Section 55 assessment. We are now able to do so and hope to conclude the assessment shortly. We will share the results in due course.</p><p> </p><p>In the meantime, the fees set out in the Immigration and Nationality (Fees) Regulations 2018 continue to be charged.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Home Office acknowledged the Court of Appeal judgment in PRCBC &amp; O v Secretary of State for the Home Department on 18 February and committed to reviewing the child citizenship registration fee in line with its duties under Section 55.</p><p>A Supreme Court hearing on Child Registration fees also took place on 23<sup>rd</sup> and 24<sup>th</sup> June.</p><p>We await the final judgment and the ongoing section 55 review before publishing results.</p> more like this
