Furthermore, we are both part of JMC(EN) where this, amongst other issues, has been discussed with the devolved administrations.</del></p><p> </p><p><ins class="ministerial">Our inaugural National Democracy Week in July is going to be a UK-wide event, intended to increase democratic engagement among a wide range of under-registered groups. Last Wednesday we launched its website and a youth engagement toolkit for parliamentarians and later this year will recruit and train youth Democracy Ambassadors.</ins></p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The European Union (Withdrawal) Bill will retain EU law as it applies in the UK on exit day.</p><p>We expect between 800 and 1000 statutory instruments will be required across Government to correct this retained EU law to ensure the statute book functions appropriately outside the EU. The Bill will also give the devolved administrations powers to make similar corrections in devolved areas. All Departments are engaged in this process.</p><p>Once we leave the EU, we will make our own laws. As we leave the EU, the Government’s EU exit legislative programme is designed to cater for the full range of negotiated and non-negotiated outcomes.</p><p> </p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The Government agrees that Electoral Registration Officers and Returning Officers should be brought within the scope of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000.</p><p>Whilst there are issues which require careful consideration, there are a number of potential benefits to ensuring the information held by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Returning Officers (ROs) is publicly available such as enhancing their accountability to the public and providing greater transparency as to the work underway to support electoral registration, which is vital in underpinning the democratic process.</p><p>Many EROs and ROs choose to voluntarily disclose information when requested under the FOI Act and the Association of Electoral Administrators, the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives and the Electoral Commission have previously stated that they are in favour of bringing EROs under the FOI Act</p><p>However, the maximum recoverable amounts made available to Returning Officers for the conduct of national polls are published in advance of the poll in the corresponding Charges Order and are already publicly available.</p>
