<p>Data relating to the number of awards for BTEC qualifications by level has only
been collected since the 2005/06 academic year. Therefore, figures for 2005/06 to

the result of reforms to performance tables which have removed the perverse incentives
for schools to teach qualifications that were easy to achieve and/or had an inflated
value in performance measures. This served only to devalue vocational education. Now,
the qualifications which can count in performance tables are those that are of demonstrably
