The Government would prefer the UK to leave the EU with a deal and, in the event that the UK leaves the EU with a new deal, the Department’s assessment is that access to medicines and medical devices will not change for industry or the National Health Service.</p><p>While the Prime Minister is confident that he can strike a new arrangement with the EU, it is vital that we prepare for a ‘no deal’ outcome. Therefore, as a responsible Government, we continue to take steps to ensure the supply of medicines and medical products is uninterrupted in a ‘no deal’ scenario.</p><p>On 26 June, we wrote to suppliers of medicines to the UK from or via the EU or European Economic Area setting out our continuing multi-layered approach to ensure the continuity of supply of all medicines and medical products in a potential ‘no deal’ exit scenario on 31 October.</p><p>Further details can be found at the following link:</p><p><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/news/medicines-and-medical-products-supply-government-updates-no-deal-brexit-plans" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/news/medicines-and-medical-products-supply-government-updates-no-deal-brexit-plans</a></p><p>Ahead of 31 October, all necessary funding will be made available to support our ‘no deal’ preparations. On 1 August, Her Majesty’s Treasury announced an additional £434 million made available to help ensure continuity of supply of vital medicines and medical products, including through freight capacity, warehousing and stockpiling.</p><p>We are confident that the Department is doing everything appropriate to prepare for a possible ‘no deal’ EU exit on 31 October. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/12/2018 answer text <p>Government does not control rents for student accommodation as higher education providers are autonomous bodies, independent from government.</p><p>The student funding system makes loans for living costs available as a contribution towards a student’s living costs while attending university. Living costs support increased by 2.8% for 2017/18 and 3.2% for the current, 2018/19, academic year. We have announced a further 2.8% increase for loans for living costs for the 2019/20 academic year – to a record amount.</p><p>All universities who wish to charge fees above the basic level are required to have an access and participation plan approved by the Office for Students. When assessing whether or not to sell the loans, the government therefore has to determine today’s value of those future cash flows to be able to compare it against the price being offered by the market. To make this assessment, the government forecasts the repayments and then takes into account: the time value of money, the effect of inflation, the riskiness of the asset, and the opportunity cost of having money tied up in that asset that could otherwise be used for purposes or policies with greater social or economic returns. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/12/2018 answer text <p>The government expects all higher education providers to fulfil their responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments for all disabled higher education students, not just those in receipt of Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSAs).</p><p> </p><p>DSAs remain available to supplement the reasonable adjustments made by institutions, and for the provision of more specialist support such as a mobility trainer for blind or visually impaired students.</p><p> </p><p>Students who wish to dispute their institution's provision of an assessed reasonable adjustment can invoke an exceptional case process under DSA. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/12/2018 answer text <p>The Student Loans Company (SLC) provides application forms in braille, and also offers telephone support to those unable to access applications on-line or through hard copy.</p><p>Information on Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSAs) is available on direct.gov at <a href="https://www.gov.uk/disabled-students-allowances-dsas" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/disabled-students-allowances-dsas</a>. The direct.gov site encourages any student who is unable to apply online to contact the SLC for assistance.</p><p>The SLC works closely with institutions to promote awareness of DSAs by providing quick guides which can be provided to students at open days and by developing working relationships with universities’ own disability services.</p><p>All eligible students undertake a Study Needs Assessment, and the SLC pays for the assessor directly from a student’s DSAs general allowance.
