	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/02/2019 answer text <p>NHS Improvement is working closely with Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust to achieve delivery of the 95% four hour accident and emergency (A&amp;E) standard. Several steps are in place to support the Trust, including monthly oversight meetings between NHS Improvement’s senior leadership team and the Trust’s chief executive team to review performance; provision of NHS Improvement staff for on-site support to review long-stay patients and discharge those who are medically fit to be discharged; and work with mental health providers and the London Ambulance Service to support appropriate placement of mental health patients as well as improve patient handover performance. The Trust also received £500,000 of capital to develop and open a crisis café at the University Hospital Lewisham site, to help prevent avoidable mental health attendances at A&amp;E.</p><p>There are multiple actions underway to support reductions in waiting times for patients in London Emergency Departments. The London Urgent and Emergency Care programme and the Emergency Care Intensive Support Team provide dedicated expertise and support to several trusts<ins class="ministerial"><sup>1</sup></ins>. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/01/2019 answer text <p>The Department’s plans to ensure the supply of medicines in the event of the United Kingdom leaving the European Union without a deal have been subject to scrutiny by a number of Parliamentary Committees, including the Public Accounts Committee, the Health and Social Care Committee, the EU Exit Committee and the House of Lords EU Home Affairs Sub-Committee. The Department is also working closely with suppliers, their supply chains, health services and devolved administrations to maintain the continuity of medicines supply in a ‘no deal’ EU exit scenario.</p><p> </p><p>We are unable to publish the list of medicines requested. To reassure participating companies, we have committed to treating all information received confidentially, securely and to using it only for the purposes of the Department’s contingency programme. That means not introducing information about a specific company, medicine or supply route into the public domain.</p><p> </p><p>On 23 August 2018, the Department wrote to all pharmaceutical companies that supply prescription-only and pharmacy medicines to the UK that come from, or via, the EU or European Economic Area (EEA), asking them to ensure a minimum of six weeks’ additional supply in the UK, over and above existing business-as-usual buffer stocks, by 29 March 2019. We recognise, however, that certain medicines with short shelf lives, including medical radioisotopes, cannot be reasonably stockpiled. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/11/2018 answer text <p>The Government is committed to ensuring leaving the European Union is a success for the health and social care sector as well as the United Kingdom as a whole.</p><p> </p><p>The Department continually assesses the implications of the UK leaving the EU, to help ensure the best outcome for the health and care sectors. This includes understanding the financial implications of the UK exiting the EU for the National Health Service and wider care system, and, where appropriate, mitigation planning for any risks. The Department is working with its partners across Government, arms-length bodies and industry to ensure that all relevant parties are prepared for exiting the EU, and the Secretary of State sends regular communication to frontline NHS organisations about EU Exit preparations.</p><p> </p><p>It is in everyone’s interests to secure a good deal for both sides. We expect to secure a good deal. However, it is the duty of a responsible government to contingency-plan for all potential EU exit scenarios, and that is exactly what we are doing. Our plans are well developed and have been designed to provide the flexibility to respond to all scenarios and ensure the smoothest exit in all outcomes. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/02/2019 answer text <p>We want to secure reciprocal arrangements bilaterally with Member States in a ‘no deal’ scenario, so that no-one faces sudden changes to how they obtain healthcare.</p><p> </p><p>The United Kingdom and Irish Governments have both set out their firm intention to maintain the Common Travel Area and to protect the associated reciprocal rights enjoyed by UK and Irish nationals when in each other’s state, including access to healthcare services, whatever the terms of the UK's withdrawal from the European Union. Where these medicines are imported from the EU or EEA, we have asked that suppliers ensure in advance plans to air freight these medicines from the EU in the event of a ‘no deal’ exit.</p><p> </p><p>While stockpiling medicines and alternative air freight remains a critical part of our ‘no deal’ medicine supply contingency plans, we are also supplementing these with additional actions.</p><p> </p><p>We have further secured sufficient roll-on, roll-off freight capacity on alternative routes to enable these vital products to continue to move freely in to the UK.
