We are committed to transforming accessibility across the UK rail network, moving staff out of underused ticket offices and into the station where they can provide help where it is most needed. star this property answer text <p>Several stations across Yorkshire were selected for the <em>Access for All</em> Main Tier programme, including Menston, Todmorden and Garforth stations. Works are due to be completed at these stations by 2024 at the latest.</p><p>We will shortly be commissioning accessibility audits of all mainline stations that will allow us to prioritise future investment in station accessibility.</p> more like this

The Department expects the industry to meet current accessibility requirements whenever it installs, renews or replaces station infrastructure. Failure to do so can lead to enforcement action by the Office of Rail and Roads.</p><p> </p><p>As well as the programme of accessibility improvements underway, we shall be bidding for further rounds of funding for <em>Access for All</em> schemes in the forthcoming Spending Review.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>With growing passenger numbers, the Department wants to see more not fewer staff on the railway. Train operating company employees have increased by 20% from 49,000 to 59,000 between 2010-11 and 2017-18.</p><p>We believe that train operators themselves are best placed to determine how staff are deployed to best to meet the needs of their passengers. We regularly engage with a range of stakeholders such as the Rail Delivery Group who is the custodian of the Passenger Assist reservation scheme to discuss issues that will make the rail network more accessible.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>As part of the Prime Minister’s Network North announcement in October, the Government confirmed £350m will be made available to improve the accessibility of Britain’s train stations. We are assessing over 300 nominations for funding from April 2024 as part of the Access for All programme. At stations awarded funding we will deliver an obstacle free, accessible route from the station entrance to platforms. Successful nominations will be announced in due course.</p> more like this
