Table B breaks this down by local authority. The majority of this funding helps support the day-to-day business of Youth Offending Teams (YOTs), but it also includes some discrete additional grants for specific projects or initiatives, for example funding for restorative justice. The annual recorded value of the additional grants is set out in Table C.</p><p> </p><p>Due to a change in reporting processes the additional grants given in 2014/15 and 2015/16 were not included in the published totals in the 2017/18 youth justice statistics. Published totals for 2018/19 and 2019/20 are not yet available. Data for 2018/19 will shortly be available in aggregate form in the Youth Justice Board’s annual accounts and will be published at YOT level in the annual statistics published in January 2020. Data for 2019/20 will be available one year later.</p><p> </p><p>The overall youth justice grant has reduced by 56% (in real terms) between 2010/11 and 2017/18. The changes in funding in real terms were as follows:</p><p> </p><ul><li>In the year beginning 2010: 165 million</li><li>In the year beginning 2011: 133 million</li><li>In the year beginning 2012: 118 million</li><li>In the year beginning 2013: 99 million</li><li>In the year beginning 2014: 98 million</li><li>In the year beginning 2015: 80 million</li><li>In the year beginning 2016: 74 million</li><li>In the year beginning 2017: 73 million</li><li>In the year beginning 2018: 72 million</li></ul><p> </p><p>These reductions were made in the context of wider savings made across the department. The MoJ is committed to ensuring there is sufficient funding for Youth Offending Teams whilst also ensuring public money is managed appropriately.</p><p> </p><p>YOTs continue to carry out vital work to support young people through the justice system and prevent them from entering it in the first place. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/05/2019 answer text <p>In January 2017 we established a programme of reform to consider how we can deliver improvements across the youth justice system (YJS) and take account of the recommendations made by Charlie Taylor in his review of the YJS, published in December 2016.</p><p> </p><p>Since then we have established the Youth Custody Service to bring oversight of the whole youth secure estate under a single Executive Director directly accountable to me, and worked in partnership with DfE, DHSC and NHSE to develop the secure schools model. We hope to appoint the provider of the first secure school this summer. The Youth Justice Board has developed a new performance assessment process for Youth Offending Teams and we have increased the availability of liaison and diversion services across England.</p><p> </p><p>Work is also underway to review our criminal records processes and we have established a dedicated youth justice disproportionality team who are taking forward work to explain or address disproportionate representation and outcomes within the system. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/06/2019 answer text <p>The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) and Youth Justice Board (YJB) receive regular representations from local authorities on a wide range of issues relating to the youth justice system, including in relation to grants.</p><p> </p><p>The YJB Good Practice Grant contributes directly to YOS’ statutory work - including preparing pre-sentence reports and supervising youth offenders during sentence as well as front-line work to reduce offending and re-offending by young people. It also contributes to work to prevent children offending and coming into the youth justice system in the first instance. In addition to the YJB Good Practice Grant, the YJB also offer discrete additional grants for specific projects or initiatives, for example funding for restorative justice. The YOS also receives funding from their local authority, health, probation, the police, and, where applicable, the Welsh Government.</p><p> </p><p>The YJB will be allocating a total of £72.2m in grants for 19/20, meaning that overall allocation for the front line will be greater than the previous year.
