Under the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009 (ASCL), apprentices are employed under an Apprenticeship Agreement, this ensures they are protected under the Employment Rights Act 1996. Apprentices' pay is covered under the National Minimum Wage regulations and HMRC is responsible for ensuring compliance with these regulations. HMRC provides comprehensive advice and guidance for employees through the Pay and Work Rights Helpline.
