star this property answer text <p>£100 million of revenue generated from the Soft Drinks Industry Levy will be utilised for the Healthy Pupils Capital Fund (HPCF). This fund is intended to improve children’s and young people’s physical and mental health by enhancing access to facilities for physical activity, healthy eating, mental health and wellbeing and medical conditions, such as kitchens, dining facilities, changing rooms, playgrounds and sports facilities.</p><p> </p><p>The HPCF is available in 2018-19 and will be allocated through the current arrangements for schools condition funding.</p><p> </p><p>Single and small academy trusts and sixth-form colleges have had the opportunity to bid for HPCF through the Condition Improvement Fund in 2018-19. The bidding round ran between 19 October and 14 December 2017. Local authorities, large multi-academy trusts and other bodies receiving School Condition Allocations (SCA) will receive a direct allocation from the HPCF. This direct allocation is in addition to their normal SCA and will be calculated, announced and paid alongside it.</p>

star this property answer text <p>Working parents, or parents expecting to start a new job in the next 14 days, who believe they are eligible for 30 hours can make an application through the childcare service. The Department published the guidance document, <em>30 hours free childcare: eligibility</em>, which sets out the eligibility requirements for 30 hours free childcare. This is available at: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/30-hours-free-childcare-eligibility" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/30-hours-free-childcare-eligibility</a>.</p><p>A parent can claim 30 hours the term following the child’s third birthday and the term following receipt of their eligibility code from HMRC (whichever is later). star this property answer text <p>Where concern is identified, the Education and Skills Funding Agency will respond proportionately to the severity of the risk, taking into account the scale and nature of the issue and any local circumstances. Where there are significant concerns about financial management and/or concerns about governance in an academy trust (including a multi-academy trust or constituent academies within a multi-academy trust) it may issue, and publish, a Financial Notice to Improve (FNtI). The trust must comply with all the terms of an FNtI. Failure to comply will be deemed a breach of the funding agreement by virtue of the relationship between the funding agreement and the Academies Financial Handbook. In exceptional circumstances, the funding agreement may be terminated due to non-compliance with the terms of the FNtI.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Where academies are underperforming we act swiftly to address failure and secure improvement. Regional School Commissioners (RSCs) and their teams work with trusts on a case by case basic to determine the best course of action, ensuring education for pupils in the first priority.</p><p>RSCs can commission a range of support to help MATs to improve – including from local system leaders such as Teaching Schools and National Leaders of Education.</p><p>If a trust is not making rapid enough improvements at a school the RSC may take formal action including issuing formal notices. Ultimately, if the trust cannot make sufficient and rapid enough improvement the school may be transferred to a new trust with the capacity and capability to raise standards for pupils.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Where a local council considers that an academy will best meet the needs of a child, it can ask the academy to admit the child but has no powers to direct it to do so. The local council and the academy will usually come to an agreement, but if an academy refuses to admit a child, the local council can ask the Secretary of State to intervene.</p><p> </p><p>Looked after children are amongst the most vulnerable in our society and the Secretary of State is committed to supporting them to have the best possible start in life. In 2016/17, there were no declined cases following the Education and Skills Funding Agency’s intervention on behalf of my Rt hon. Friend the Secretary of State.</p> more like this
