unstar this property answer text <p>Helping Afghans to tackle corruption is a key priority for the UK’s engagement in Afghanistan, where we focus first and foremost on anti-corruption efforts that contribute to the building of a stable and self-reliant state. Anti-corruption was a key theme of the Brussels Conference on Afghanistan. At the Conference, the Afghan government announced that the new Anti Corruption Justice Centre (ACJC) was operational. They also made a commitment that five revenue generating ministries will publicly report on implementation progress of their anti-corruption action plans in 2017.</p><p>The UK and the rest of the international community will continue to press the Afghan government to deliver on these commitments to ensure that core government functions are transparent, accountable and consistent, and that violations are met with legal, timely and consistently applied sanctions.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The UK is committed to supporting women who are victims of all forms of violence in Afghanistan. From 2014-2016 the UK funded a £3.1m programme which helps women who have been victims of violence to get the justice they deserve. The programme trained hundreds of government officials, community members, police, judiciary, religious leaders, and law students on the Ending Violence Against Women law. It also established a hotline that provided counselling and legal support to survivors of violence which took over 25000 calls from over two years from women who had been victims of domestic and other forms of violence.</p><p>Between 2016 and 2018, the UK is providing £3.1m to UNFPA to establish Family Protection Centres in hospitals that provide health, counselling, legal services and referrals to women who have been victims of violence in Afghanistan.</p> more like this

This is up from around 4 million children in 2009/2010, over a third of whom were girls. Figures on the number of children out of school are hard to verify, but the UN estimates the figures to be between 6-7 million over the past few years. unstar this property answer text <p>The UK aims to reduce Afghanistan’s dependence on aid and help make it a more prosperous safe and stable country.</p><p>The UK supports the extractives sector to accelerate economic development and revenue generation. Through the £10.3m Extractive Sector Support Programme, the UK has recommended revisions to the Minerals Law and provided support for the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum to incorporate amendments.</p><p>The Mining Advisory Council is currently reviewing the amendments. Following this review, the amendments will go to the Ministry of Justice, the Council of Ministers, Parliament and finally the President for enactment. The UK remains committed to working closely with the Government and other stakeholders in support of this process.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>At the Brussels Conference on Afghanistan, the UK pledged to spend up to £750 million in Official Development Assistance in Afghanistan to 2020 (dependent on Afghan government performance and security conditions). Of this, DFID plans to spend £700 million, and the remainder will be spent through cross-government mechanisms including the Conflict, Security, and Stability Fund.</p><p>HM Treasury routinely adjusts the Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) budget to ensure the UK meets the target to spend 0.7% of Gross National Income on ODA. Where possible, budget adjustments will be achieved through efficiencies, focusing on spend that offers lowest value for money, and taking into account performance and fit with UK strategic objectives.</p><p> </p> more like this
