unstar this property answer text <p>Officials in London have not met representatives from Tapol since 2013 and we have no record of meetings with ETAN. Officials in Jakarta last met Tapol in Jakarta in March 2018 and are planning to meet them again in November. During regular visits to Papua, embassy officials meet local government officials, civil society groups, businesses and local communities to discuss issues such as human rights, economic development and sustainable forest management.</p><p>​</p> more like this

Our Ambassador and Embassy officials visit Papua periodically. Officials most recently visited in July and our Ambassador will visit again later this year.</p> more like this

Papua was also discussed in Jakarta in June during a meeting about the Human Rights Council and Indonesia's Universal Periodic Review process at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>HMA Moazzam Malik visited Papua province in Indonesia from 14 until 18 November 2017 as part of his regular programme of travel around Indonesia. During the visit, he met local government officials, civil society groups, businesses and local communities. Economic development, sustainable forest management and human rights were all discussed. President Joko Widodo's development agenda for Papua is ambitious and we will continue to support sustainable development across the region. During the visit the Ambassador raised concerns about freedom of expression, media access, and the resolution of past human rights cases. We encourage full investigations into all allegations of abuses.</p> more like this

We assess this to be the most effective method to raise our concerns. We are pleased that the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has been invited to visit Papua soon.</p> more like this
