star this property answer text <p>We are determined to ensure the UK remains one of the best locations in the world for automotive manufacturing as we transition to electric vehicles. As part of this, we continue to work with investors through the Automotive Transformation Fund to progress plans to build a globally competitive electric vehicle supply chain in the UK. In 2021 the Net Zero Strategy announced £350 of funding in the Automotive Transformation Fund. This funding is additional to the £500m announced in 2020 for this programme as part of the 10 Point Plan.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Later in the year, the Department plans to publish best practice guidance on the provision of disability awareness training in the bus sector, which was informed by the experience of disabled passengers, bus operators and training providers. We hope that by sharing across the whole bus industry some of the good practice already benefiting passengers in many areas of the country, we will ensure that disabled passengers can board any service with confidence that the driver will provide them with the help they need.</p><p> </p><p>The Department publishes annual bus statistics which include an assessment of the proportion of local bus operators which require their staff to complete training consistent with the European Regulation. The most recent release indicated that 98% of drivers work for companies which fulfil this requirement</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>BEIS received its largest ever R&amp;D budget at Spending Review 2021 with £39.8 billion over the SR period, including an allocation of £25.1 billion to UK Research Innovation (UKRI) which provides significant funding to the aforementioned areas.</p><p> </p><p>Specific funding amounts are not allocated to disease areas in advance as funding is largely distributed via competitive, peer-reviewed application processes.</p><p> </p><p>However, the Government has committed via the Life Sciences Vision to launch healthcare missions, including in Dementia and Cancer. BEIS will be contributing funding to these Missions via UKRI, alongside the Department of Health and Social Care and the National Institute for Health and Care Research.</p> more like this

The Government continues to work with the industry to monitor and mitigate the impact of inflation, including through the Construction Leadership Council’s (CLC’s) Product Availability Group. star this property answer text <p>My department has been working closely with the Department for Energy Security &amp; Net Zero to showcase the opportunity for investment in the UK hydrogen sector. Together we’ve published a Net Zero Investment Roadmap setting out the UK’s strategy, policies and funding for scaling-up low-carbon hydrogen. The Sector Development Action Plan published in 2022 committed to regular meetings with investors and ‘Meet the-Specifier’ events to help industry understand supply chain opportunities. My officials in the UK and overseas are in communication with equipment manufacturers across the world to ensure they understand what the UK has to offer investors and to advertise the pipeline of hydrogen production projects in development across the country.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Department (including Central Department and Executive Agencies) currently employs 230 apprentices which equates to 1.58% of the workforce.</p><p> </p><p>This is based on apprenticeship data and Departmental headcount at end of February 2018. These figures are subject to constant change due to workforce movement and apprenticeship completion.</p><p> </p><p>The Department has a number of apprenticeship starts in progress which will increase the numbers of apprentices once they have been signed up by learning providers, but they are not yet registered as apprentices.</p> more like this
