star this property answer text <p>HM Treasury carefully considers the impacts of policy choices on households at different levels of income. The department publishes distributional analysis of the impacts of decisions on tax, welfare, and spending on public services at each fiscal event, and has done so since 2010.</p><p> </p><p>The government has set out that it is committed to tackling the root causes of poverty, including education and worklessness. This approach is working, with 1,000,000 fewer people, including 300,000 fewer children, in absolute poverty (before housing costs) since 2010, both record lows.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>At Budget 2016 we identified likely pressures on employer contributions to public service pensions of £2 billion and set out that these costs would need to be met within existing budgets. The valuations indicate that there will be additional costs to employers, above the level previously envisaged. The Budget confirms that additional funding of £4.7 billion has been allocated to the reserve to cover these expected additional costs.</p><p> </p><p>As the Chancellor said in his Budget speech, the Home Secretary will review police spending power and further options for reform when he presents the provisional police funding settlement in December.</p> more like this

Autumn Budget 2018 also provided £60m (see scorecard table 2.1) in support of nuclear fusion, quantum technologies and University Enterprise Zones.
