star this property answer text <p>The Energy Act 2013 provided powers for the Secretary of State to designate a Strategy and Policy Statement (SPS) for energy policy. A draft SPS was consulted on in 2014 and the Department subsequently committed to redrafting the SPS based on the consultation responses. However, this work was paused following the change of government in 2015.</p><p> </p><p>This Government set out its intention to designate an SPS for energy policy in the Energy White Paper in December 2020. The Department has continued developing the SPS and Welsh and Scottish Ministers have had the opportunity to consider a draft. A public consultation is planned for the Spring.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The UK’s Methane Memorandum highlights the Government’s commitment to explore and implement measures to secure future progress in reducing methane emissions, including in energy, waste and agriculture sectors. The plans are part of, and consistent with, the UK’s Net Zero Strategy. The Government’s current projections estimate that UK methane emissions will be reduced by 64% on 1990 levels in 2030. The approach set out in the Memorandum is consistent with the Government's commitment under the Global Methane Pledge to take voluntary actions to reduce global methane emissions by at least 30% from 2020 levels by 2030, as a global reduction target.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) provides a price reduction to ensure that all eligible businesses and other non-domestic customers. The price reduction will run initially for 6 months covering energy use from 1 October 2022 until 31 March 2023. Non-domestic customers such as postmasters and sub-postmasters do not need to take action or apply to the scheme – support will automatically be applied to eligible bills.</p><p> </p><p>An HM Treasury-led review of the EBRS will determine support for non-domestic energy consumers, excluding public sector organisations, beyond 31 March 2023. The Government has published terms of reference for the review, with the findings to be published by 31 December 2022.</p> more like this
