There are strong commercial incentives in the Contract for Difference for EDF to build and commission the Hinkley Point C power plant on time. star this property answer text <p>We are aware of the trend in the decline in research and development returns reported by Deloitte in its report “Measuring the return from pharmaceutical innovation 2016”. This is part of an established trend.</p><p>Working with industry through the Life Sciences Strategy we want to make sure the UK is the best place in the world to develop and launch new medicines.</p><p>Government is already taking action in key areas that will benefit the life sciences sector, such as the recent announcement of an extra £2bn a year for R&amp;D by the end of this Parliament including a new Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund. We are also providing £100m of funding to extend and enhance the Biomedical Catalyst, supporting innovative life science companies to translate cutting-edge medical technologies into commercial success.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government is committed to a consent based approach for siting a geological disposal facility, which will involve working with communities that are willing to participate in the siting process. In the 2014 Geological Disposal White Paper Government recognised that local representative bodies – including all levels of local government – will need to have a voice in this process.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, a Geological Disposal Facility and associated boreholes have been brought within the definition of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects under the Planning Act 2008. The development consent process for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects places specific requirements on the developer to consult local communities, local authorities, statutory bodies, and other interested parties before any application for development consent is made.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>By monitoring the near-real time and historical data on the In Home Display, consumers should increasingly be able to choose the right tariff for their needs, and will no longer leave consumers to make switching decisions on the basis of estimated bills. The rollout will also enable consumers quickly to share their data with energy services companies and switching sites, via the now-live Data and Communications Company infrastructure.</p><p>These benefits have been recognised by the Competition and Markets Authority, with some of their remedies being time-limited to fill the gap between now and the completion of the smart meter roll-out.</p> more like this
