star this property answer text <p>In response to the two questions regarding drug strength, I can confirm that:</p><p>(a) the testing and analysis of seized drugs is carried out by forensic service providers and not the National Crime Agency (NCA).</p><p>(b) the National Crime Agency (NCA) does monitor the purity levels and adulteration patterns of certain illegal drugs seized and submitted for forensic analysis in England and Wales, however this does not currently or routinely include the monitoring of cannabis seizures. The NCA provides purity data for other illicit drugs to Focal Point UK who publish this data in their annual report. star this property answer text <p>The use of animals in scientific research remains a vital tool in improving our understanding of how biological systems work both in health and disease. Such use is crucial for the development of new medicines and cutting edge medical technologies for both humans and animals, and for the protection of our environment.</p><p>The Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986, as amended in 2012, requires that testing only takes place where no scientifically satisfactory non-animal alternative method exists. Project licence proposals for research on animals, for which there is no non-animal alternative, must comply fully with the principles of the 3Rs: replacement, reduction and refinement.</p><p>Following EU exit, the requirement for the replacement of animal tests where practicable, and the principles of the 3Rs, will be fully retained in ASPA.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The government continues to give careful consideration to the Court’s findings.</p><p>The Investigatory Powers Act 2016 replaced large parts of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA) which was the subject of this challenge. This includes the introduction of a ‘double lock’ which requires warrants for the use of these powers to be authorised by a Secretary of State and approved by a senior judge. An Investigatory Powers Commissioner has also been created to ensure robust independent oversight of how these powers are used.</p><p>In addition the Government has already laid regulations which will introduce independent authorisation and a serious crime threshold to the communications data regime in accordance with the requirements of European Law.</p> more like this
