All parties must engage constructively and in good faith to overcome obstacles and find a political solution to end the conflict. We urge all parties to support and facilitate the UN’s efforts.</p><p>The Foreign Secretary hosted a meeting of the Yemen Quad on 26 April in London. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/03/2018 answer text <p>A political settlement remains the only means for bringing long-term stability to Yemen – there is no military solution to the conflict. The Yemeni parties must engage constructively and in good faith to overcome obstacles and find a political solution to end the conflict. The UK continues to play a leading role in international efforts to achieve this goal. The Foreign Secretary discusses the military and political situation in Yemen with the Foreign Ministers of the United States of America, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia regularly, and most recently on 23 January at our Embassy in Paris. In June last year the UK sponsored and coordinated a UN Security Council Presidential Statement, agreed on 15 June, which called upon the parties to the conflict to agree the modalities for a ceasefire, take steps to address the humanitarian crisis and restart political talks. We are now working urgently with our international and regional partners to ensure that the Security Council's words are converted into action. The UK is supporting Yemen through £6.6 million of funding from CSSF Fund this year. We continue to support UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths and the UN-led peace process. All parties have reaffirmed their support for the peace process and the Government of Yemen have agreed to the UN redeployment plan but, at this stage, the Houthis have not agreed to the UN plan. It is important that neither side exploits the redeployment process. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/06/2016 answer text <p>The UK supports the Saudi Arabian-led Coalition military intervention in Yemen, which came at the request of legitimate President Hadi to deter aggression by the Houthis and forces loyal to the former president Saleh. Saudi Arabia and the Coalition have played a crucial role in this endeavour. Peace talks are now the top priority. During the Foreign Secretary’s visit to the Gulf in late May and early June, all countries reassured of their commitment to finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Yemen. The UK is working closely with the UN to encourage the Yemeni parties to engage in good faith in the peace talks in Kuwait and respect the ceasefire which started on 10 April. Through the Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF) we support projects with UN Women which aim to increase Yemeni women’s capacity to influence political/conflict actors and the peace process, including through the Yemeni Women Pact. CSSF projects also support the inclusion of women in Track II political dialogue, and in local peacebuilding initiatives. During last month’s peace talks in Stockholm, UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths invited eight women, representing different political parties, civil society, activists and development workers in Yemen, to assist him during negotiations.
