star this property answer text <p><del class="ministerial">To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what mechanisms are in place to tackle potential breaches of rights under the Common Travel Area</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, with reference to Command Paper 258 entitled UK points-based immigration system: further details, whether passport checks will take place on on (a) air and (b) sea travel between (i) Northern Ireland to Great Britain and (ii) Great Britain to Northern Ireland.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, with reference to the July 2020 Command Paper entitled UK Points Based System Further Details, CP 258, whether she plans to include in a universal permission to travel requirement (a) EU nationals without settled status and (b) other non-visa nationals wishing to travel from the Republic of Ireland to (i) Northern Ireland and (ii) Great Britain</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, with reference to the July 2020 Command Paper entitled UK Points Based System Further Details, CP 258, what assessment she has made of the implications for her proposals on no routine immigration controls on journeys from within the Common Travel area to the UK and no immigration controls on the Northern Ireland - Ireland land border of her policy on a universal permission to travel requiring everyone wishing to travel to the UK excluding British and Irish nationals to seek permission in advance of travel via a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Universal Permission to Travel requirement will require everyone wishing to travel to the UK (except British and Irish citizens) to seek permission in advance of travel. We will introduce Electronic Travel Authorisations (ETAs) for visitors and passengers transiting through the UK who do not currently need a visa for short stays or who do not already have an immigration status prior to travelling, which will act as their permission.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial"> As now, the UK will not operate routine immigration controls on journeys from within the Common Travel Area, with no immigration controls whatsoever on the Republic of Ireland-Northern Ireland land border. However, individuals arriving in the UK must continue to enter in line with the UK’s immigration framework including the Universal Permission to Travel requirement.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The CTA has never required the UK and Ireland to have entirely harmonised immigration arrangements for non-British or non-Irish citizens. Key to this is the high level of cooperation on border security to ensure that legitimate travel is facilitated while those who intend to abuse the arrangements are prevented from entering. </ins></p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p><del class="ministerial">Current regulations provide for marriages and civil partnerships to take place in England only in exceptional circumstances i.e. where one of the parties is seriously ill and not expected to recover. It is for local authorities to ensure ceremonies can be safely delivered in line with Public Health and local authority guidance.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">Marriages and civil partnerships can take place in Wales where appropriate risk assessments have been undertaken and safety measures are in place</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">National restrictions in England came to an end on 2 December. Marriages and civil partnerships are allowed under each of the current four tiers of local restrictions in England, and it is for local authorities to ensure ceremonies can be safely delivered in line with Public Health and local authority guidance</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">Marriages and Civil Partnerships can take place in Wales where appropriate risk assessments have been undertaken and safety measures are in place.</ins></p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p><del class="ministerial">As with citizens of countries elsewhere in the world, EEA citizens who missed the 30 June deadline to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme, and do not have any other form of immigration leave, no longer have their rights protected, including access to benefits.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">However, a person granted status under the EU Settlement Scheme on the basis of a late application will have the same rights from the date they are granted status, as a person who applied by the deadline.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">The Home Office has already published guidance on late applications to the EU Settlement Scheme at <a href="https://horizon.homeoffice.gov.uk/file-wrapper/eu-settlement-scheme-eu-other-eea-and-swiss-citizens-and-their-family-members" target="_blank">EU Settlement Scheme: EU, other EEA and Swiss citizens and their family members | Horizon</a>.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">The Home Office is working closely with DWP and HMRC to ensure all those eligible for the EU Settlement Scheme apply, including contacting people to encourage them to do so. star this property answer text <p><del class="ministerial">We do not anticipate that the amendment laid by the Government to the Nationality and Borders Bill in respect of assisting unlawful immigration or an asylum seeker (clause 40) will have any financial impact on the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). Government Amendment 63 has been made to allow RNLI to continue as now and it doesn’t require any changes of practice from them.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">Home Office officials have discussed clause 40, Government Amendment 63 and the duty to rescue persons in distress at sea with the RNLI.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Home Office publishes data relating to those deprived of British Citizenship. Statistics are available from May 2010.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">Figures for conducive deprivation orders, which are made under Section 40(2) of the 1981 British Nationality Act, have been published as part of the HM Government Transparency Report: Disruptive and Investigatory Powers. star this property answer text <p><del class="ministerial">The Visa Application Centre in Kyiv temporarily closed following the Russian invasion of Ukraine and we are currently unable to return their passport to customers . The Home Office will be in contact with customers to discuss how and when their passport can be returned, although the presence of Russian Military forces around Kyiv needs to considered as part of this.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">If a customer does not have their passport, UKVI staff are working with customers and Border Force to facilitate their entry to the UK where we are unable to attach a vignette in their passport.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Visa Application Centre in Kyiv temporarily closed following the Russian invasion of Ukraine and we are currently unable to return a customer their passport. star this property answer text <p><del class="ministerial">The Home Office will set out its approach to evaluating the Government’s refugee resettlement schemes in due course outlining the scope of the evaluation and the frequency of data collection.</del></p><p> </p><p><del class="ministerial">The evaluation approach is expected to draw on the mixed-methods approach used to evaluate the previous Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme and Vulnerable Children’s Resettlement Scheme. It is expected this will include analysis of data such as numbers of arrivals over time and cohort characteristics, as well as the collection of data on refugees against a range of indicators of integration, such as education, employment, language skills, housing and health, with the aim of better understanding barriers to integration and identifying how best to support resettled refugees’ longer-term integration into life in the UK.</del></p><p> </p><p><del class="ministerial">It is intended that the products of this evaluation will be made publicly available once the evaluation has concluded.</del></p><p> </p><p><del class="ministerial">This Government introduced two new schemes: the Ukraine Family Scheme announced on 4 March, and the ‘Homes for Ukraine’ Scheme announced by the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing &amp; Communities on 14 March</del></p><p><br /><del class="ministerial"> The Ukrainian Schemes have been designed in light of very different circumstances to those which led to the Government’s Syrian and Afghan resettlement schemes.</del></p><p> </p><p><del class="ministerial">The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities is responsible for the Homes for Ukraine scheme.</del></p><p> </p><p><ins class="ministerial">All our schemes are continuously monitored to inform delivery and ensure any adjustments to the policy are made in a timely manner.</ins></p>
