star this property answer text <p>The UK National Screening Committee has recommended that the faecal immunochemical test (FIT) be the primary screening test for bowel cancer and NHS England remains absolutely committed to implementing FIT in 2018/19.</p><p> </p><p>NHS England is working with Public Health England to finalise a number of practical arrangements around sensitivity, production and distribution of FIT kits, and diagnostic and pathology workforce capacity to ensure that when FIT is implemented, it is sustainable.</p> more like this

NHS England is committed to improving coverage and reducing variation between all age groups and catchment areas.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>All cancer patients will benefit from a tailored Recovery Package that ensures personalised care and support from the moment they are diagnosed. Patients will work with their care teams, to develop a comprehensive plan that addresses both their physical and mental health requirements as well as identify any other support they may require, such as help at home or financial advice.</p><p> </p><p>The Recovery Package includes Health and Wellbeing Events or Clinics. These are education and information events to support and enable people living with cancer and their families to take control and participate in their recovery, giving them necessary information, and promoting positive lifestyle change such as nutritional advice and encouragement to increase physical exercise. Health and Wellbeing Events are designed to help people get support that improves the quality of their lives, making these as long, healthy and active as possible.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Department has been clear that for smokers, quitting smoking completely is the best way to improve health. E-cigarettes are not risk free. However, the evidence is increasingly clear that e-cigarettes are significantly less harmful to health than cigarettes and can help smokers to quit, particularly when combined with support from stop smoking services.</p><p> </p><p>The Government committed Public Health England (PHE), through the Tobacco Control Plan, published in 2017, to include messages about the relative safety of e-cigarettes in their quit smoking campaigns. PHE’s 2017 Stoptober campaign included e-cigarettes among the array of tools that smokers can use to help them quit and, in their New Year smoking health harms campaign, PHE reprised these messages. It is through this consistent messaging that the Government hopes to reverse the harmful, mistaken – and increasingly widespread – belief that vaping is no safer than smoking.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>A small number of pilot areas started recruitment in 2017. The next stage of the recruitment programme is on track to start at the end of 2017/18 as planned, with the aim of recruiting 600 doctors by the end of March 2019 and the remainder of the 2,000 by the end of March 2020. The plan is to recruit suitably qualified overseas doctors into English general practice. This will be carried out in a phased approach with recruitment initially focussing on the European Economic Area where doctors’ qualifications are automatically recognised by the General Medical Council.</p> more like this
