	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/05/2018 answer text <p>A political settlement remains the only means for bringing long-term stability to Yemen – there is no military solution to the conflict. The Yemeni parties must engage constructively and in good faith to overcome obstacles and find a political solution to end the conflict. The UK continues to play a leading role in international efforts to achieve this goal. In March this year, the UK proposed and coordinated a UN Security Council Presidential Statement (PRST) which was agreed on 15 March 2018. This PRST builds upon the previous one agreed on 15 June 2017, also sponsored and coordinated by the UK, it expresses deep concern about the humanitarian situation in Yemen, welcomes the appointment of the new UN Special Envoy for Yemen, and calls for the parties to agree steps towards a ceasefire. We will continue to work with our Yemeni, regional and international partners to ensure that words are converted into action. The UK fully supports – including through financial assistance – the work of the UN Special Envoy to facilitate progress towards peace talks. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/05/2018 answer text <p>The UK is playing a leading role in diplomatic efforts, including by bringing together key international actors, to find a peaceful solution. The Foreign Secretary most recently discussed the urgent need for a political solution with the Saudi Foreign Minister,the Deputy Emirati Foreign Minister, and the US Assistant Secretary of State on 26 April. The UK strongly supports, including through financial assistance, the work of Martin Griffiths as the UN Special Envoy for Yemen. We are using our role as penholder at the UN Security Council to focus international attention on the need for progress. We secured the agreement of a Presidential Statement on 15 March which called for an inclusive political solution, and for all parties to the conflict to abandon pre-conditions and engage in good faith with the UN-led process. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/08/2023 answer text <p>Yemen is a focus country in the new HMG national action plan on Women, Peace, and Security for 2023-27 and is one of our human rights priority countries.</p><p>We champion and support the important role women, youth and civil society can play in securing lasting peace in Yemen, recognising the need for an inclusive peace process and consideration for marginalised groups.</p><p>As a global leader on the Women Peace, and Security agenda, the UK funds projects supporting the work of grassroots women leaders and civil society organisations in communities across Yemen. For example, we supported the Yemeni Women's Pact for Peace and Security (through UN Women), which aimed to increase female leadership and inclusion in the peace processes.</p><p>We continue to support the UN Special Envoy, who is actively engaging women in the peace process and involving a wide range of Yemenis. We fund a Senior Gender Adviser position and an Economist position in his office.
