star this property answer text <p>The Independent Commission for Reconciliation and Information Recovery was established on 14 December 2023 and has only begun to incur expenditure. The ICRIR’s expenditure will be set out in annual accounts which will be laid in Parliament.</p><p> </p><p>£250 million has been allocated to the implementation of the Northern Ireland Troubles (Legacy and Reconciliation) Act and the non-legislative memorialisation measures announced alongside it. This includes costs for the establishment of the Independent Commission for Reconciliation and Information Recovery, and for the Commission’s work. These funds were set aside under the Stormont House Agreement and the New Decade, New Approach agreement.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The UK Government committed in New Decade, New Approach (NDNA) to provide funding to establish the Castlereagh Foundation, a fund to support academic research through Universities and other partners to explore identity and the shifting patterns of social identity in Northern Ireland.</p><p> </p><p>The Government amended the Identity and Language (NI) Bill in the House of Lords to enable the new Office of Identity and Cultural Expression to establish the Castlereagh Foundation. The UK Government will make funding available to the Office to establish the Foundation, in line with the NDNA commitment.</p><p> </p><p>The Bill has completed its passage in Parliament and is currently awaiting Royal Assent.</p> more like this
