The NIHR is not currently supporting research specifically on the impact of haemochromatosis-related symptoms on people living with this condition. However, the NIHR has funded a study on diagnostic strategies for haemochromatosis and is supporting research to improve diagnosis of haemochromatosis. The NIHR welcomes funding applications for research into any aspect of human health, including the impact of haemochromatosis-related symptoms on individuals.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The National Health Service is increasing bed capacity for winter 2022/23 by the equivalent of at least 7,000 general and acute beds to reduce waiting times for admission from accident and emergency (A&amp;E).</p><p>We have established a £500 million Adult Social Care Discharge Fund to assist medically fit patients to leave hospitals quickly, increase bed capacity and reduce waiting times in A&amp;E. This is in addition to the National Discharge Taskforce which aims to reduce delayed discharge across acute, mental health and community care settings by working with social care partners to implement best practice. We are also preparing for variants of COVID-19 and seasonal respiratory illnesses through an integrated COVID-19 booster and flu vaccination programme.</p> more like this

The Department does not hold hospital site level data on bed occupancy. The latest official statistics published by NHS England for May 2023 show that the general and acute bed occupancy rate at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust was 97.7%.</p><p>For the same period, general and acute bed occupancy in the South East was 94.3%, while the general and acute bed occupancy rate in England was 93.0%. Health is a devolved matter, and the Department does not report bed occupancy in the devolved nations.</p><p>As set out in the delivery plan for recovering urgent and emergency care services, there will be 5,000 more staffed beds this year, alongside an extra 3,000 virtual ward beds. This is backed by £1 billion of dedicated funding.</p><p>We are also investing £1.6 billion over the next two years to reduce the numbers of beds occupied by patients ready to be discharged, and Same Day Emergency Care services will be in place across every hospital with a major emergency department, helping avoid unnecessary overnight stays.</p>

star this property answer text <p>A delivery plan for recovering urgent and emergency care services was published on 30 January. This sets out plans to bring down Category two response times to 30 minutes next year, with further improvements towards pre-pandemic levels the following year, including through delivering 800 new ambulances (including 100 specialist mental health vehicles).</p><p>The National Health Service winter resilience plan is increasing NHS bed capacity by the equivalent of at least 7,000 general and acute beds, helping reduce pressure in accident and emergency so that ambulances can get swiftly back out on the road.</p><p>An additional £250 million has been made available to enable the NHS to buy up beds in the community to safely discharge thousands of patients from hospital, and capital for discharge lounges and ambulance hubs. These measures will help improve flow through hospitals and reduce ambulance handover delays. This is on top of the £500 million already invested last year.</p> more like this
