It is designed to mirror the Work Capability Assessment which relates to functional ability in the workplace rather than being linked to specific conditions. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/04/2017 answer text <p>There are no plans to introduce the mandatory recordings of assessments for Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) and Personal Independence Payments (PIP).</p><p> </p><p>Whilst there is no legal need to record assessments, claimants can request in advance that their ESA assessment is recorded. This is explained to claimants in the letter inviting them to their face-to-face assessment.</p><p> </p><p>On 13 March a small-scale pilot started to test whether there are any benefits to audio recording PIP face-to-face assessments. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/06/2017 answer text <p>This change will come into effect in autumn 2017 and will apply to those placed in Employment and Support Allowance’s Support Group and the Universal Credit equivalent.</p><p> </p><p>Whilst the new criteria and process for this group of claimants is developed, we do not plan to reassess claimants who had the most severe health conditions or disabilities when they had their first Work Capability Assessment.
