We have robust safeguarding procedures in place to ensure all young people in hotels are safe and supported as we seek urgent placements with a local authority.</p><p>Young people are supported by team leaders and support workers who are on site 24 hours a day. Further care is provided in hotels by teams of social workers and nurses. All contingency sites have security staff on site 24/7 and providers liaise closely with local police to ensure the welfare and safety of vulnerable residents.</p><p>If any child goes missing the MARS (Missing After Reasonable Steps) protocol is followed. A multi-agency, missing persons meeting is chaired by the local authority to establish the young person's whereabouts and to ensure that they are safe. This expansion was completed in September 2020 and has delivered five new medical schools. In addition, the cap on medical school places was lifted for students who completed A-Levels in 2020 and in 2021 and had an offer from a university in England to study medicine, subject to their grades. However, recruitment and retention is undertaken at trust level.</p><p>In 2022, an additional £127 million has been invested in the National Health Service maternity workforce and improving neonatal care, including in Dulwich and West Norwood. This is in addition to the £95 million invested in 2021 to fund a further 1,200 midwives and 100 consultant obstetricians. The NHS People Plan focuses on improving the retention of NHS staff by prioritising staff health and wellbeing.
