star this property answer text <p>My office makes regular contact with all Government departments that are unable to meet the 10 working day target within which to answer Questions for Written Answer. Every effort is made to address delays and to remind departments of their responsibilities to Parliament.</p><p>I have recently taken the opportunity to discuss the need for timely answers with all members of the Government front bench in this House, and written to the five departments with the greatest proportion of late responses in the 2014/15 session to make clear the House’s expectations and to stress the importance of timely responses. My office will continue to work with all departments to ensure prompt and satisfactory answers to Questions for Written Answer.</p><p>The delay in the particular case to which the noble Lord refers related to delays in gathering the required data. The question tabled by Lord Falconer of Thoroton on 21 July has now been answered.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Promoting economic growth throughout the UK, including the English regions is a high priority for the Government which is reflected in initiatives like the Northern Powerhouse, City Deals and the Local Growth Fund. Since 2010 the Government has invested in a range of programmes to support economic growth including: skills and apprenticeships; infrastructure including transport, broadband and housing; business support, research and innovation.</p><p>The Government has invested £2.9 billion through the Regional Growth Fund and £730 million through the Growing Places Fund and has allocated £7.7 billion through the Local Growth Fund. This is all in addition to wider central and local government spending in the English regions on skills, transport and business support.<br><br>The Government has established Local Enterprise Partnerships to manage and coordinate growth programmes in places and devolved funding and power through City Deals, Growth Deals and Devolution Deals, so that local areas can take greater control of delivering economic growth.<br><br></p>

There are now almost 1,500 designated neighbourhood planning areas. 222 local planning authorities in England (66% of the total) include at least one designated neighbourhood planning area. <br><br>We estimate that over 8 million people live within a neighbourhood area, representing around 15% of the population in England.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The 2013/14 Renewables Obligation sustainability data [1] indicate that, for data available, the average greenhouse gas saving from energy crops on the European Union fossil fuel electricity average, by consignment, was approximately 90% (within a range of 85-94%). Feedstock data will begin being collected for Renewable Heat Incentive from the beginning of October, but energy crops are expected to make up a small proportion of heat biomass feedstock.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>As recommended in the Bioenergy Strategy, this year the UK government is introducing mandatory sustainability criteria for biomass supported under the Renewables Obligation and the Renewable Heat Incentive. This will ensure that bioenergy feedstock is from sustainable land types, and that feedstock must meet a minimum 60% greenhouse gas saving on the EU fossil fuel electricity average.
