star this property answer text <p>The detention of pregnant women under Immigration Act powers occurs only in very limited situations, either where there is a clear prospect of early removal or in very exceptional circumstances. Very few pregnant women are detained. Central recording of the number of detained women who have disclosed their pregnancy started in August 2015. Options for the collection of wider data on pregnant women is being considered as part of the Immigration Act 2016 implementation.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Girl Summit, hosted by the Prime Minister and UNICEF in July 2014, underlined the United Kingdom’s leadership in stamping out forced marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM).</p><p>We made forced marriage a criminal offence and the first conviction was secured last month. We also introduced a package of new measures to tackle FGM through the Serious Crime Act 2015 including victim anonymity, mandatory reporting of FGM, a new offence of parental liability and the introduction of FGM protection orders.</p><p>The Government recognises that legislation alone is not enough to tackle FGM and forced marriage, and our specialist FGM and Forced Marriage Units lead and deliver wide-ranging prevention and awareness-raising work.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Policing is a devolved matter and the PSNI’s main budget is allocated by the Department of Justice from the Northern Ireland block grant, through the Policing Board. Operational policing matters are a matter for the Chief Constable, with whom I maintain regular contact.</p><p> </p><p>The UK Government has provided the Police Service of Northern Ireland with additional security funding in order that they can tackle the SEVERE and enduring threat from Northern Ireland related terrorism.</p><p> </p><p>The PSNI has submitted a case for additional Brexit-related resources to Treasury. That bid is currently under consideration.</p><p> </p><p>This Government remains unstinting in its admiration and support for the brave men and women of the PSNI and their efforts to keep people in Northern Ireland safe and secure.</p><p><br> <br></p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In Northern Ireland, corrosive substances are devolved and are the responsibility of the Department of Justice in Northern Ireland. Clauses 1 to 4 of the Offensive Weapons Bill which the hon Member has referred to, relate to proportionate restrictions on the sale and delivery of certain acids and other dangerous corrosive chemicals, and are part of a range of measures to provide better protection to people in local communities across the UK<del class="ministerial">. I am continuing to work hard with the parties in Northern Ireland to restore devolved government so that the devolved administration can ensure the appropriate legislative consent is provided. </del><ins class="ministerial">and to enhance public safety. Consideration has been given by Northern Ireland departments and UK Government Ministers to extending these measures in the absence of an Assembly or a Legislative Consent Motion, which can only be granted during the passage of a Bill. The Bill contains separate commencement measures for provisions extending to Northern Ireland which relate to devolved matters. These are to be commenced by the Department of Justice in Northern Ireland and associated regulations will not be commenced without Northern Ireland Assembly approval.</ins></p>

After the implementation period, all laws in the UK will be passed by our elected representatives in Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh and London. The Political Declaration recognises that the UK may choose to align with the EU’s rules in relevant areas to facilitate trade in goods or security cooperation.</p><p> </p><p>The Official Journal of the European Union publishes upcoming EU legislation for implementation.
