star this property answer text <p>The Secretary of State for Transport has regular discussions with the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government about how best to continue to provide the best possible transport solutions for the nation and its constituencies. Both the Road Investment Strategy and the current rail upgrade plan are focused on meeting the current and increasing demand, and stimulating economic growth by investing record amounts in transport links to communities. We use detailed models and evidence to support these investments and we are committed to continuing to do so in the future.</p><p> </p><p>An important aim for the second Road Investment Strategy, which is being developed, is to provide transport capacity to support new housing construction. Officials in both departments are coordinating planning activity to understand and accommodate new pressures on the strategic road network.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Department for Transport has responsibility for UK involvement in the transport element of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) and the Trans European Transport Network programme (TEN-T). These schemes have provided co-funding for a number of public and private sector transport infrastructure projects.</p><p> </p><p>On 13<sup>th</sup> August my Right Honourable Friend, the Chancellor of the Exchequer made an announcement<sup><sup>[1]</sup></sup>, outlining the Government position on EU funding schemes, which included a commitment to provide continuity of funding for UK participants in EU programmes.</p><p> </p><p>In line with that announcement, my Department will work closely with HM Treasury and concerned stakeholders to review EU funding schemes in the round, to ensure that any ongoing funding commitments best serve the UK’s national interest, while ensuring appropriate investor certainty.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p><sup><sup>[1]</sup></sup> The following is a link to the announcement:<br>https://www.gov.uk/government/news/chancellor-philip-hammond-guarantees-eu-funding-beyond-date-uk-leaves-the-eu</p><p> </p>

Earlier this month we launched the taskforce that will implement the strategy, chaired by Simon Kirby, CEO of HS2 Ltd. star this property answer text <p>The National Infrastructure Pipeline last published in December 2014 captured the significant current and upcoming infrastructure projects and programmes, including Transport, within the UK. The Pipeline lists 270 infrastructure projects related to transport of which 27 have expected start of works/construction dates in 2015.</p><p> </p><p>Since publishing the National Infrastructure Pipeline, projects and programmes have continued through the development cycle with both construction starts and completions taking place.
