unstar this property answer text <p>The Government’s Arms Length Body, VisitEngland supports the work of the Family Holiday Association, a national charity dedicated to helping provide breaks and day trips at the British seaside for families who struggle to financially provide holidays for their family. They are also a member of England’s Inclusive Tourism Group which VisitEngland originally convened in 2015, which aim to provide access for all to tourism destinations and businesses.</p><p> </p><p>VisitScotland have their own accessibility team which develop and support products to increase accessibility for visitors, however they do work in partnership with VisitEngland.</p><p> </p> more like this

Scotland’s tourism sector accounted for £5.2bn of GVA in 2013 and approximately 280,000 jobs in 2014.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Aviation heritage plays a valuable role in our tourism economy. Events such as the Farnborough Airshow attract hundreds of thousands of tourists, and support the local economy, as well as being good for our aerospace and defence industry. My Department sponsors the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, which is visited by almost 400,000 visitors every year, and houses everything from Spitfires to Concorde.</p><p> </p><p>The Heritage Lottery Fund is also open to applications which celebrate our rich aviation history. Recent recipients include Brooklands Museum in Weybridge, an historic site for aviation manufacturing and a successful tourist attraction given £4.7million, and the Stow Maries First World War Aerodrome in Essex, recently granted £4.3million to turn it into a major visitor attraction.</p> more like this

We currently have no plans to meet East Ayrshire Council or South Ayrshire Council.</p><p> </p><p>Additionally, DCMS officials meet regularly with officials from the Scottish Government to discuss a range of topics relating to tourism. unstar this property answer text <p>The measures set out in the Government’s statutory Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy, as well as the almost £2 billion being invested in cycling and walking over the current Parliament, will help boost the use of e-bikes as well as the use of conventional bikes. The Department has recently published refreshed cycle to work guidance to make it easier for employers to provide employees with cycles, including e-bikes, worth over £1,000. The Government is also encouraging the use of e-cargo bikes through the £2m e-cargo bike grant programme which contributes 20% of the purchase price of a new e-cargo bike up to the first £5,000 of any purchase price.</p> more like this
