unstar this property answer text <p>The Office for National Statistics (ONS) compiles data on the activities carried out by people that use the internet. This can be found at: http://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/householdcharacteristics/homeinternetandsocialmediausage</p><p> </p><p>The ONS estimates that in Great Britain 90% of households have an internet connection. Of those without internet access, ONS found “64% felt they didn’t need the internet as it was regarded as not useful or interesting. A further 20% felt they lacked skills and 12% reported that they had access to the internet elsewhere”.</p><p> </p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>For the purposes of company reporting these items (i.e. AI Programs, Blockchain and other Fin Tech) would be treated as intangible assets.</p><p>The Companies Act 2006 requirements for Large and Medium-sized Companies and Groups, includes a balance sheet heading “Intangible Assets” to be included on the face of the balance sheet as well as a specific sub-heading for, “concessions, patents, licences, trademarks, and similar rights and assets”. We would expect AI programs, Blockchain and Fin Tech to be accounted for under this heading.</p><p>For additional clarity UK generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP) also require detailed disclosures on intangible assets, where they are material to the company’s financial position, to be included in the notes attached to the financial statements.</p> more like this

The most comprehensive and up to date analysis of payment practices in the construction sector is the recently published BEIS research paper no.17 – Retentions in the Construction Sector. Further information is being gathered through two ongoing consultations on construction payment practices. The deadline for responses is Friday 19 January 2018. unstar this property answer text <p>We recognise the significant contribution design makes to the UK economy,</p><p>particularly as a key factor in the production of services and goods across a wide range of sectors. According to DCMS economic estimates design and designer fashion exports in 2016 were £380m, a 9.6% increase from 2015.</p><p> </p><p>The Design Council produced a report into the Design Economy in 2018 which estimates that in 2015 the total value of exports where design had made a key contribution was £48.4 billion. The report also found that gross value added generated by the design economy increased by 52% between 2009 and 2016, with over 1.69 million people employed in the design economy and over 78,000 design intensive firms operating in the UK in 2017.</p> more like this

Under the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Act 2015, the Government is required to publish an annual report that among other things lists all measures’ impact on business or voluntary bodies, which came into force in the preceding year. A summary of responses to this consultation was published in September 2016. Government has continued to discuss the proposals with interested parties and the issues that they raised since this time. This further engagement will ensure that any reforms, if necessary, will be fit for purpose and best achieve the Government’s aims of rescuing distressed but viable businesses, therefore preserving both value and jobs.</p> more like this
