unstar this property answer text <p>While the Government believes that leaving the EU with a deal is the best outcome, leaving without a deal remains the legal default at the end of the extension period on 31 October 2019. As a responsible Government, we have been preparing to minimise any disruption in the event of a no-deal scenario and are continuing with these preparations.</p><p> </p><p>The supply of critical ‘category 1’ goods, including medicines and medical products, remains an essential element of the Government’s no-deal contingency planning. The Department of Health and Social Care is working with the Devolved Administrations to support the continuity of medical supplies and medicines for the whole of the UK, and will continue to engage with devolved administration officials and Ministers to prepare for a potential ‘no-deal’ on 31 October. The Government has also set out in a Written Ministerial Statement an update on its preparations for a no-deal scenario on 26 June 2019 (<a href="https://www.parliament.uk/business/publications/written-questions-answers-statements/written-statement/Commons/2019-06-26/HCWS1661/" target="_blank">HCWS1661</a>).</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>

unstar this property answer text <p>My officials have discussed the procurement of steel with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, which has asked all Government departments to consider guidance on steel procurement and to notify of any upcoming opportunities for industry.</p><p> </p><p>More broadly, the Government is committed to supporting the steel sector to realise the broader commercial opportunities that are open to it, which could be worth an additional £3.8 billion a year by 2030. We are establishing the Industrial Energy Transformation Fund – backed by up to £315 million of investment – to help businesses with high energy use (including steel companies) to cut their bills and transition UK industry to a low carbon future. We are also providing up to £66 million through the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund to help steel and other foundation industries develop radical new technologies.</p> more like this

All staff that join do so on an assignment, loan or secondment from other government departments, who remain the employers. These Departments have their own absence management policies and recording processes that apply to those of their staff working in the office. Detailed reasons for absence attributable to stress and other sickness absence is not retained by the Office of the Secretary of State for Scotland.</p><p>The office takes sickness absence and the general wellbeing of staff very seriously and works alongside the employing departments to ensure that anyone who is experiencing issues receives support and assistance.</p><p> </p> more like this

All staff that join, do so on assignment, loan or secondment from other government bodies, who remain the employers.</p><p> </p><p>EU Exit is an all-of-government operation. The Department for Exiting the European Union is responsible for overseeing negotiations to leave the EU and establishing the future relationship between the UK and EU. The Department for International trade works to secure UK and global prosperity by promoting and financing international trade and investment, and championing free trade.</p><p> </p><p>Departments continually review workforce plans, reprioritise and assess changing needs, which includes identification and cessation of non-priority work where appropriate. We have accelerated our plans, and at the same time, the Civil Service as a whole is working to ensure that EU Exit Implementation is carried out to high quality without impacting public service delivery across the whole of government.</p>

unstar this property answer text <p>Under the current Immigration Rules there are two routes available for non-EU nationals. The first, Tier 2 Ministers of Religion, is for those playing a leading role as faith leaders in our religious institutions. The second route, Tier 5 Religious Workers, is for those undertaking non-pastoral roles supporting the activities of these institutions. Our intention is to continue to attract those who bring a range of skills, including those who make valuable contributions to the enjoyment of faith and community across the UK.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Late last year I met Archbishop Philip Tartaglia, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Glasgow and President of the Bishops’ Conference, and discussed a number of issues with him, including the UK’s forthcoming exit from the European Union. Since then the Government has published its White Paper on the future immigration system, and I fully expect the Roman Catholic Church in Scotland will wish to engage with the Home Office on its particular circumstances and requirements.</p><p> </p>

unstar this property answer text <p>The UK Government is engaged in ongoing discussions with the Scottish Government on various matters in relation to fisheries as we look ahead to the opportunities for the Scottish fishing sector when we leave the Common Fisheries Policy. In December, the UK Government announced an extra £37.2 million of funding to boost the existing EMFF programme, to help the fishing industry prepare for the opportunities coming its way. This will equate to around £16.4 million for Scotland. It will be for the Scottish Government to decide how this is spent through the existing EMFF mechanism.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Since the Tay Cities Heads of Terms were signed on 22 November my officials have met with local partners on a number of occasions to progress the Tay Cites Deal. My officials will continue to engage at a pace set by the local partners.</p><p> </p><p>A further meeting is planned for 5 February with Angus Council to hold further detailed discussions on the conditions of the ring-fenced fund for Angus.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Official figures show that total international and rest of the UK exports in 2016 (excluding oil and gas) were estimated at £75.6 billion. Exports to the rest of the UK accounted for 61 per cent of this total (or £45.8bn) and international exports accounted for 39 per cent (or £29.8bn).</p><p> </p><p>Both the European Union (EU) and the individual EU countries are members of the WTO.
