Friend, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, meets regularly with other Cabinet colleagues on a variety of matters pertaining to health and social care, including support for people using medical equipment at home.</p><p>As set out in the Autumn Statement, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero are exploring the best approach to consumer protection, as part of wider retail market reforms. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/09/2023 answer text <p>The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is the independent body responsible for developing evidence-based recommendations for the NHS on whether new medicines represent a clinically and cost-effective use of resources. NICE appraises all new medicines within their licensed indications, and the National Health Service in England is legally required to fund medicines recommended by NICE.</p><p>Wegovy is not licensed for heart disease and has therefore not been appraised by NICE for the condition. The NHS is legally required to fund medicines recommended by NICE, usually within 3 months of final guidance.</p><p>NICE has recommended abiraterone for the treatment of metastatic hormone-relapsed prostate cancer before chemotherapy is indicated and for castration-resistant metastatic prostate cancer previously treated with a docetaxel-containing regimen. NHS England funds abiraterone in line with NICE’s recommendations, ensuring access for eligible patients.</p><p>Abiraterone is not licensed for the treatment of non-metastatic prostate cancer and has therefore not been appraised by NICE for such use. NHS England is currently considering a clinical policy proposal for abiraterone as a treatment option for potential use in specific cases. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/07/2022 answer text <p>The most recent model articles of association for use by mainstream academies, last updated on 30 June 2021 states:</p><p> </p><p>“Notwithstanding the number of Members from time to time, the maximum aggregate number of votes exercisable by Local Authority Associated Persons shall never exceed 19.9% of the total number of votes exercisable by Members in general meeting and the votes of the other Members having a right to vote at the meeting will be increased on a pro-rata basis.”</p><p> </p><p>This remains the department’s policy position, and we have no plans to change this approach for most types of academy trusts.</p><p> </p><p>The department is testing an approach to allow local authorities to establish new multi academy trusts, where there is a need, to which the above limit on local authority Associated Persons shall not apply. We will, however, require at least one member to be independent of any association with the local authority. We will work with a small number of local authorities to test the concept. Local authority-established multi-academy trusts will be subject to the same oversight and, where necessary, intervention as all trusts. This includes carrying out the appropriate surveys, condition checks and fire safety inspections on an on-going basis.</p><p>Last year, the department wrote to all responsible bodies in England to remind them of their responsibilities to manage their school estate effectively, maintain it in a safe working condition, and to comply with all relevant regulations. The department supports responsible bodies to keep school buildings safe and fit for purpose with an extensive range of guidance.
