unstar this property answer text <p>There are currently no plans to introduce a Sunday rail service at these stations as part of Northern’s franchise agreement, the specification for which was developed in consultation with local authorities and Transport for the North. Whilst the railway needs to balance passenger and stakeholder aspirations with the practical and economic viability of running additional services, ideas for these can always be put forward for consideration to Transport for the North.</p> more like this

This has been informed by engagement with disabled people and the bus industry, and aims to ensure that bus drivers have the knowledge and skills to provide passengers with the appropriate assistance they need, including the use of ramps for wheelchair users.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Taxis and private hire vehicles (PHVs) provide a particularly important service for many disabled people, helping them to remain independent and to complete journeys which may not be possible using other forms of transport.</p><p> </p><p>I recognise that the availability of wheelchair accessible taxis and PHVs varies across Great Britain, particularly in rural areas. I know too, however, that they can sometimes be difficult to access for some ambulant disabled people. As such we encourage local licensing authorities to use their existing powers to ensure that a range of vehicle categories are represented in their taxi and PHV fleets. We have also introduced powers in the Deregulation Act 2015 to enable the sub-contracting of PHV services across local authority boundaries, helping to ensure that wheelchair accessible vehicles are available wherever they are required.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>We have made no assessment of changes in drink-driving convictions; however, drink drive casualties went down in the period 2004 to 2014 and drink drive fatalities are at their lowest ever level; the proportion of people who tested positively for alcohol following a reported road traffic accident has fallen from 4% in 2004 to 3% in 2014; and the overall proportion of drivers who tested positively on a roadside screening test fell from 18% in 2004 to 11% in 2014. We continue to promote our THINK! Campaign and we have no plans for lowering the drink drive limit.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Traffic congestion in London is caused by a wide range of factors, and the Department has made no assessment of the extent to which pedicabs contribute to it. The impacts of pedicabs on congestion are highly localised, and the Department has been lobbied by a number of stakeholders who have said that they are contributing significantly to congestion problems on the roads and pavements in certain parts of the West End of London where numbers of them tend to congregate.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The Department regularly works with Network Rail, the British Transport Police and Train Operating Companies to tackle instances of vandalism on the UK rail network. Earlier this year we jointly launched a new campaign - ‘You Vs Train’. The campaign raises awareness about the dangers of trespassing, with the intention reducing instances of future trespassing and acts of vandalism.</p><p> </p><p>At a local level Community Rail Partnerships and station adoption groups work with local communities and the rail industry to improve stations and deal with less safety critical instances of vandalism.</p><p> </p> more like this
