star this property answer text <p><del class="ministerial">NHS England has recently announced plans to enable consistent national availability of the Freestyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring device according to published guidance.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">Clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) can purchase any available blood glucose monitoring which has been approved for sale on the open market. The availability of AccuChek Expert, Dexcom G6 and Eversense XL products is a matter for CCGs who are primarily responsible for commissioning diabetes services, to meet the requirements of their population. In doing so, they need to ensure that the services they provide are fit for purpose, reflect the needs of the local population, are based on the available evidence and consider national guidelines. NHS England engages with technology companies developing products that may be of significant benefit to those with diabetes to seek to increase their availability to patients where appropriate.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">The Department does not collate data on the number of patients using these devices nationally or by clinical commissioning group.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial"> <p><ins class="ministerial">NHS Digital publishes Hospital and Community Health Services (HCHS) workforce statistics for England. These include staff working in hospital trusts and clinical commissioning groups (CCGs), but not staff working in primary care or in general practitioner surgeries, local authorities or other providers.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The attached table shows the number of paediatric mental health nurses who work in National Health Service trusts and CCGs in England as at the last day of each specified month from May 2010 to July 2018 (latest available), full time equivalent.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">Paediatric mental health nurses include qualified nurses &amp; health visitors within the care settings 'Community Mental Health' and 'Other Mental Health', with Tertiary Areas of Work 'Child and Adolescent Psychiatry' and 'Child Psychotherapy'.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Area of Work reproduced here is that submitted by individual NHS organisations and has not been subject to the types of validation procedures undertaken by NHS Digital in relation to many other data items used in official publications. As such, these figures should be treated with a degree of caution.</ins></p></ins></p>

These data were collected annually until 1 April 2015. NHS Digital now collects these data quarterly and monthly data are not available. The attached tables show quarterly data received in respect of NHS mental health services for the periods requested.</p><p> </p><p>Because of changes to the method and frequency of the data collection NHS Digital currently classify data from April 2015 as ‘experimental’ so they cannot be compared with previous years.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The United Kingdom formally signed the Council of Europe Convention on Organ Trafficking on 25 March 2015 and has legislation in place to ensure consent is always provided to prevent organ trafficking. The Government also supports the 2008 Declaration of Istanbul on Organ Trafficking and Transplant Tourism, which encourages all countries to draw up legal and professional frameworks to govern organ donation and transplantation activities.</p><p> </p><p>When the UK signed the convention, it did so on the basis that it reserved the right not to apply the jurisdiction rules laid down in paragraph 1.d and e of Article 10 of the convention. There are no current plans to ratify the convention.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government has not undertaken an assessment of the potential benefits of routinely collecting data about the parental responsibilities of anyone diagnosed with a mental health condition.</p><p> </p><p>However, the Government does recognise that parental mental health problems can have an impact on the wellbeing of children within the family and statutory guidance published in July 2018: ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’ acknowledges that children may be at greater risk of harm or need additional help in families where adults have mental health problems. The guidance also makes clear that health practitioners should provide and co-ordinate any specific information regarding family health, including any mental health problems, to support the protection of children.</p>

star this property answer text <p>The Government recognises the need for additional investment in mental health services and the Institute for Public Policy Research report represents a valuable contribution to the debate.</p><p> </p><p>The Government announced its long term financial settlement for the National Health Service in June. This will represent an increase of £20.5 billion in real terms by 2023/24. The Government has asked the NHS to develop a long term plan which will set out a vision for the health service and ensure every penny is well spent. The Government has been clear that better access to mental health services, to help achieve the Government’s commitment to parity of esteem between mental and physical health, is one of the principles which must underpin the plan.</p><p> </p><p>The 2018 Budget set out some of aspects of what the long term plan will contain, and further details will follow when the plan is published in due course.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Work on developing mental health support teams for schools forms part of the work to implement the proposals set out in the Green Paper, ‘Transforming children and young people’s mental health provision’. The first wave of recruitment for the Educational Mental Health Practitioners who will form part of these teams is now under way and 210 people will take their places on specialist training courses from January 2019. These trainees will start working in schools during 2019. The initial local areas, or trailblazer sites, that will trial the Green Paper proposals will be announced by the end of the year. As stated in the Green Paper, we plan to roll out the teams to between a fifth and a quarter of the country by 2022/23.</p> more like this
