star this property answer text <p>The Government is aware that there are significant disparities in the financial and non-financial support available for people across the UK. The Rt Hon Penny Mordaunt MP, in her role as Paymaster General, is working with HM Treasury, the Department of Health and Social Care and health departments in the devolved administrations to take forward the actions necessary to address these disparities.</p><p> </p><p>Cabinet Office officials are in regular contact with colleagues in the devolved administrations on the progress of this work. In line with the practice of successive administrations, details of such discussions are not normally disclosed. star this property answer text <p>This Government is committed to developing a new system for immigration that is fit for purpose and based upon the skills of the individuals seeking to work in the UK, rather than the country that they are from.</p><p> </p><p>On 6 September 2019, the Home Secretary commissioned the Migration Advisory Committee to consider a new points-based immigration system for introduction from January 2021.</p><p> </p><p>The Committee has also been commissioned to review the salary thresholds for the future immigration system and will continue with this work in addition to its work on the new points-based immigration system and report back to the Government by January 2020.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Child poverty is an important issue in Wales, and one which the UK Government remains determined to tackle. We are helping parents to move into and remain in work, offering the best opportunity for families to move out of poverty and improving children’s long-term outcomes.</p><p>The Government’s focus has been on radically reforming the welfare system to promote work as the most effective route out of poverty and towards financial independence.</p><p>Compared with 2010, there are <del class="ministerial">14,200</del> <ins class="ministerial">142,000</ins> more people in employment in Wales, the number of people unemployed is at a record low of 55,000. The number of people in workless households has fallen by 90,000 since April-June 2010.</p><p>We recognise the importance of a collaborative approach in addressing complex issues such as this and I am keen to ensure that we work with the Welsh Government to tackle the causes and effects of child poverty in Wales.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We are working with countries across the world to explore the best ways to develop our current trade and investment relationships and ensure that Britain becomes a global leader in free trade once we leave the EU.</p><p> </p><p>The UK’s exit from the EU creates an opportunity for the UK to send a positive signal that our markets are open and we are determined to promote business with the developing world.</p><p> </p><p>Increased trade and investment with developing countries creates opportunities for UK firms and consumers, for example lowering prices, and opening fast-growing markets for UK exporters.</p><p> </p><p>My Department and others, including the Department for International Trade, are determined to ensure that the needs and interests of Wales are well represented and that any future trade deal works for the whole of the UK. Universal Credit makes it easier for people to move into work and keep more of what they earn.</p><p>We have listened to concerns and as a result ensured that claimants can access 100% advance payments on day one of a Universal Credit claim and continue to receive Housing Benefit for two weeks after transitioning.</p> more like this
