star this property answer text <p>The Autumn 2018 Budget announced £10 million of capital funding to support air ambulance services. This funding has been allocated to nine charities across England with successful bids which represented the best value for money and positive patient impact. The allocation will fund upgrades to seven operational airbases, including training facilities and fundraising headquarters. There were also three successful bids for critical care cars and medical equipment, and one bid for a new helicopter.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The NHS Long Term Plan committed to increasing the provision of mental health support for all patients who require it. The importance of addressing the mental health needs of people with diabetes is recognised and further work is underway to consider the most effective routes for supporting this as part of the future development of services.</p><p> </p><p>On 21 March 2018, NHS England and NHS Improvement, along with the National Collaboration Institute for Mental Health, published ‘The Improving Access to Psychotherapy Therapy (IAPT) Pathway for People with Long-term Physical Health Conditions and Medically Unexplained Symptoms’. The guidance outlines the IAPT pathway, and accompanying benchmarks, to support the national expansion of IAPT services for adults with long term conditions and medically unexplained symptoms.</p><p> </p><p>NHS England is also working to improve care for those with type 1 diabetes and eating disorders (often referred to as diabulimia) by supporting two pilots to test, trial and evaluate the effects of integrated diabetes and mental health pathways for the identification, assessment and treatment of diabulimia. One pilot is in London and the other in the South region.</p><p> </p><p>In recognition of the interdependencies between diabetes and mental health, a project working group has been established between NHS England and Diabetes UK to specifically consider the distinct mental health needs of patients with diabetes at all stages in their care pathway.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>

It sets out how the NHS will spend the £33.9 billion cash terms annual increase going into the NHS budget by 2023/24.</p><p>It is for NHS England and NHS Improvement to make decisions about how to prioritise the how they meet the Long Term Plans commitments on dentistry from within the total settlement.</p><p>Over the NHS Long Term Plan period, to 2023/24, NHS England and NHS Improvement’s commissioning allocations for dental services are planned to increase to cover population growth, increasing demand for services and inflationary cost pressures.</p><p>NHS England and NHS Improvement are working closely with the Department to introduce a new NHS dental contract that will focus on achieving good oral health and increasing access to NHS dentistry, with a particular focus on improving the oral health of children, which are all key deliverables of the Long Term Plan.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Clinical commissioning groups are responsible for commissioning diabetes services for their local populations. They are also expected to take National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines into consideration when making their decisions. NICE currently recommends not routinely offering self-monitoring of blood glucose levels for adults with type 2 diabetes unless the person:</p><p> </p><p>- is on insulin;</p><p>- or there is evidence of hypoglycaemic episodes;</p><p>- or the person is on medication that may increase their risk of hypoglycaemia while driving or operating machinery;</p><p>- or the person is pregnant or is planning to become pregnant.</p><p> </p><p>The evidence base for the benefits and cost-effectiveness of flash glucose monitoring for people with type 2 diabetes is still developing, and NICE will continue to monitor the evidence and relevant research.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p> more like this
