Most recently, I raised Papua with the Indonesian Ambassador on 8 January. I urged an independent investigation of reports of atrocities and incidents of sexual violence when I met Burma's Minister for the Office of the State Counsellor on 20 November</p><p>The Government recently deployed two civilian experts to Bangladesh to conduct a capacity needs assessment on investigation and documentation of sexual violence perpetrated against members of the Rohingya community. Our engagement with the Burmese military has been focused on educational training, designed to instil knowledge and awareness in the military of the requirement to observe human rights and the rule of international humanitarian law. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/09/2017 answer text <p>The Special Representative on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict, Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, made a statement at the 36th session of the Human Rights Council on 11 September which made clear that the UK strongly condemned all violence in Rakhine State and called on all parties to de-escalate tensions and address the humanitarian crisis.</p><p>We continue to raise issues of conflict-related sexual violence with the Burmese authorities. Russia and China have promoted a 'freeze for freeze roadmap' as a route into negotiations on the nuclear issue. Both the US and South Korea have said the Chinese and Russian proposal is unacceptable as it falsely equates North Korea's continued pursuit of <em>illegal</em> nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programmes in violation of multiple UN Resolutions and <em>lawful</em> defensive military co-operation between allies and partners. The Foreign Secretary has also made this clear to his Chinese and Russian counterparts.</p><p>We welcome the news that President Moon Jae-In and Kim Jong Un plan to hold a leaders summit and that Kim Jong Un is willing to hold direct talks on denuclearisation with President Trump by May. We welcome too North Korea's commitment to suspend nuclear and missile tests while dialogue continues. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 31/01/2018 answer text <p>The measures outlined in UNSCR 2397 are designed to further constrain oil exports, ban additional sectors of trade with the DPRK, and require member states to remove North Korean overseas workers within 24 months, among other measures. The measures target significant income streams used by the DPRK regime to fund their nuclear and ballistic missile programmes.</p><p>Sanctions take time to have an effect but there are clear signs they are beginning to have a significant impact. Kim Jong Un himself admitted as much in his New Year's address. This builds on the tough measures adopted in UNSCR 2375 in September. The Government plans to submit to the UN 1718 DPRK Sanctions Committee its implementation report for UNSCR 2397 within 90 days of the Resolution's adoption date of 22 December 2017. They discussed how best to work together, as permanent members of the UN Security Council, in tackling global security issues such as North Korea. On the same day, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted UNSCR 2379 on the DPRK, showing once again that the international community remains united in its condemnation of DPRK's reckless and destabilising actions.
