We have been allocated £1.5 billion for the Adult Education Budget for each year of the 2015 Spending Review period to engage adults to participate and develop the skills and learning they need up to level 3 to equip them for work, an apprenticeship or further learning.</p><p>We are actively exploring the efficiency and resilience of further education and will be assessing how far existing and forecast funding and regulatory structures enable high quality provision. This work will align closely with the Post-18 Funding Review in particular, to ensure a coherent vision for further and higher education. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/07/2018 answer text <p>The numbers and identities of children educated at home are not collected centrally.</p><p>For that reason it is not possible to make any overall assessment of the education they receive compared with children attending school. The parents of children of compulsory school age are responsible for ensuring that they receive an efficient full-time education suitable to the child’s age, ability, aptitudes and any special educational needs. The government has made it clear that it believes that the majority of parents undertake this task successfully and with enthusiasm. When the home education being provided is not suitable, the local authority has power to intervene. The existing framework for intervention by local authorities is currently under review. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/07/2018 answer text <p>There have been 338,400 apprenticeship starts since May 2017 of which 132,900 were on new apprenticeship standards. The fall in starts has been greatest in Level 2 while we have seen the numbers of starts on higher level standards (Level 4 and above) rise by 12.5 per cent so far this year.</p><p> </p><p>Starts on new better quality apprenticeships standards have increased rapidly. Over 40 per cent of individuals completing an apprenticeship are now starting on standards, compared to just 2.5 per cent this time last year. Higher quality training leads to increased productivity, at every level.</p><p> </p><p>The department is working with employers to make sure that they can take advantage of apprenticeships. We have already extended the amount of time employers have to spend their levy (from 18 to 24 months), and have introduced transfers, to allow employers to transfer up to 10 per cent of their annual value of levy funds to other employers and recently announced that the cap on the number of employers to whom transfers can be made has been lifted.</p><p> </p><p>The Institute for Apprenticeships has introduced its Faster and Better campaign to speed up and simplify the approval of standards development: <a href="https://www.instituteforapprenticeships.org/about/faster-and-better/" target="_blank">https://www.instituteforapprenticeships.org/about/faster-and-better/</a>. 50 standards have been approved in the last three months (April-June 2018). Over 300 standards are already approved, in all sectors of the economy - with more on the way. The National Careers Service provides independent, professional advice on careers, skills and the labour market.</p><p> </p><p>Employers and professional bodies in the creative arts sector can sign up to ‘Inspiring the Future’, run by the Education and Employers charity. This free programme allows volunteers to visit maintained schools to talk to pupils about their job. This will raise the profile of various careers within the creative arts sector.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, the Careers and Enterprise Company is making sure that every young person has access to inspiring encounters with the world of work, including work placements, work experience and other employer-based activities. They are also required to provide a broad and balanced curriculum and to promote fundamental British values, including mutual respect and tolerance of those of other faiths and beliefs.</p><p>We know that the vast majority of schools with a religious character are open and inclusive. We believe that the broad religious literacy, which most promote, is helpful in giving students what they need to navigate our multicultural society.</p><p>In its response to the “Schools that work for everyone” consultation, the department announced the retention of the 50% cap on faith admissions in faith free schools. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/04/2019 answer text <p>The government’s objective has always been to have a functioning statute book in place by Exit Day and to ensure the most critical secondary legislation was made by this point.</p><p>All of the Department for Education’s essential ‘no deal’ Exit Statutory Instruments (SIs) were made prior to 29 March 2019. Each Exit SI in the department was carefully considered on a case-by-case basis. Exit SIs which were deprioritised were done so because they made very minor technical changes which were not considered essential to be in force for the original Exit Day, and where there would be very little or no material impact from them not being in place for ‘day 1’.</p><p>These considerations and assessments made have meant that the government has been able to lay the critical secondary legislation required before we exit the EU. The department does expect to lay its remaining ‘no deal’ SIs, which were deprioritised ahead of 29 March, shortly. Given the extension to Article 50, the department will consider whether any further Exit SIs will need to be brought forward to amend any EU Regulations which have come into force since the original Exit SI programme was finalised, to ensure a functioning statute book ahead of a potential ‘no deal’ exit. The department will keep this under careful review.</p><p>The laying of Exit SIs allows Parliament to fulfil its essential scrutiny role. The exact nature of this scrutiny, and the steps required before an SI completes its passage, is dependent on the type of SI.
