The date set in the legislation for introduction of the transparency regime followed a consultation process and represented a broad consensus across the Northern Ireland political parties.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has no plans in place to legislate to facilitate the publication of pre-2017 data. At the General Election there were 400,000 more entries on the register than before, and thanks to Individual Electoral Registration (IER), 96 out of every 100 entries have been confirmed as genuine.</p><p>We’re now focusing on the remaining 4 out of 100. By December, Electoral Registration Officers will have attempted to contact each of them nine times over 18 months.
