The Government is currently considering the recommendations before agreeing the final 2019 Armed Forces Pay Award, taking into account the need to recruit, retain, and motivate suitably able and qualified personnel, as well as the long term affordability of the Armed Forces. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/07/2019 answer text <p>The Ministry of Defence (MOD) keeps all aspects of the support provided to injured Service personnel under continual review to ensure that the provision remains fit for purpose; this includes the Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP) which the MOD introduced in 2013, in conjunction with the Department for Work and Pensions, to simplify the financial support available for members of the Armed Forces who have been seriously injured as a result of Service since 6 April 2005. The AFIP provides eligible recipients with on-going payments to help with the additional costs associated with their injuries. Service personnel and veterans who are entitled to a Guaranteed Income Payment of 50% or higher through the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme are eligible for AFIP, which is tax-free and paid for life with no review. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/07/2019 answer text <p>The War Pension Scheme (WPS) is kept under continual review to ensure that the scheme is fit for purpose. War Pensions payments and associated allowances are uprated annually to protect against rising prices. In April 2019, rates for Financial Year 2019-20 increased by 2.4% in line with the September 2018 Consumer Price Index.</p><p>It remains the case that any veteran who believes they have suffered ill-health or injury due to service in the Armed Forces before 6 April 2005 is eligible to claim no-fault compensation under the WPS, which has no time limits and with the benefit of reasonable doubt always given to the claimant.</p><p>Decisions are medically certified and follow consideration of service and medical evidence and carry full rights of appeal to an independent tribunal. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/07/2019 answer text <p>The Ministry of Defence has made no recent assessment of the effect of social class on promotion in the Armed Forces.</p><p>Armed Forces careers are built on merit, creating an environment where success is determined by potential, effort and talent and not by background. The skills, education and training an Armed Forces career provides allows people the opportunity to progress and prosper not just while they serve, but also once they transition back into civilian life.</p><p>With over 50,000 apprenticeships during this Parliament, the Ministry of Defence are the UK's largest apprenticeship provider.
