star this property answer text <p>All National Health Service dental practices are required to display a poster showing patient charges and to offer patients a free leaflet which sets out in detail who is entitled to free NHS dental services. Information on exemptions and support for people who are on a low income can also be found at the following link:</p><p> </p><p><a href="http://www.nhs.uk/healthcosts" target="_blank">www.nhs.uk/healthcosts</a></p><p> </p><p>Eligibility checks are carried out on claims received for exemption from NHS Dental Patient Charges. Where eligibility cannot be verified, patients are asked to confirm their eligibility or to pay the relevant dental charge plus a penalty charge. Patients are, however, able to challenge penalty charges they believe are unjustified.</p><p> </p><p>The Department, NHS Business Services Authority and NHS England have recognised the concern that some patients may not be clear on whether they are exempt from charges and have been working to further improve the information available to patients around eligibility. This includes promoting an easy read patient information booklet, creating an online eligibility checker and developing a national awareness campaign.</p>

These levels are based on extensive scientific evidence that ensures that such additives may be consumed safely over a lifetime and allows the achievement of their necessary technological function.</p><p> </p><p>The Food Standards Agency considers the current scientific evidence on nitrates is robust and shows nitrates continue to be highly effective in protecting consumers from dangerous pathogens like Clostridium botulinum which can present a serious risk to health.</p> more like this

The framework sets out the importance of developing local policies to support switching patients to biosimilars in line with best practice and where appropriate. The commissioning framework set out policy based on best practice but ultimately CCGs and hospital trusts are accountable for their own local decision making.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>All National Health Service organisations have a responsibility to encourage a shift in moving to shared decision making, and in ensuring that all patient consultations are done with a focus on shared decision making, and are happening at an individual healthcare professional/patient level.</p><p> </p><p>NHS England has also made clear that the decision to prescribe a biological medicine for an individual patient, whether an originator or biosimilar, or to change between the two, rests with the responsible prescriber in consultation with the patient, in line with the principles of shared decision making.</p>

star this property answer text <p>NHS Improvement does not monitor use of shared decision making. It instead monitors uptake of the biosimilars as against the original – usually patented – medicines.</p><p> </p><p>It does, however, hold a joint role in supporting the National Health Service to use the best value biologic medicine which is part of a long standing programme of work connected to the NHS Biosimilar Medicines Programme Board, the NHS England Medicines Value Programme and the NHS Improvement Top 10 Medicines remit.</p><p> </p><p>The biosimilars medicines programme board is intended to ensure appropriate use of biosimilar medicines across the NHS in England. This includes shared decision making and patient consent and the board has produced guidance which sets out the importance of shared decision making which is fully endorsed by patient groups.</p> more like this
