	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/05/2019 answer text <p>The Ministry of Defence (MOD) has a responsibility to procure the right capability for our Armed Forces and to ensure value for money for the taxpayer in the goods and services that we buy, regardless of the company's size.</p><p> </p><p>We are clear that international competition is at the heart of our approach. This allows our Armed Forces to secure the best equipment from an open, global marketplace to meet evolving threats. We also recognise, however, that defence procurement needs to protect UK freedom of action and operational advantage. These strategic considerations shape our procurement strategies. Our refreshed Industrial Policy sets out the basis on which we will develop specific sector approaches to protect national security.</p><p> </p><p>There is no single MOD procurement scorecard. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/04/2019 answer text <p>The Ministry of Defence (MOD) puts safety at the heart of all its procurement activities, from setting initial requirements, through to procurement and safe operation of equipment and, ultimately, disposal. In Defence Equipment and Support, this is facilitated through the Acquisition Safety and Environmental Management System, which is used to ensure that safety training and equipment standards are considered in all procurement activity. Safety performance is routinely considered at Board level, with the MOD continually looking for opportunities to improve safety standards and reinforce a strong safety culture at every level. However, information on the criteria and weightings used for individual contracts varies, is not held centrally and could only be provided at disproportionate cost.</p><p>On 14 March 2019, the Defence Secretary announced an ambitious Defence Prosperity Programme to grow defence's contribution to UK prosperity. The report concluded that the Commission needed to take action to start infringement procedures where serious breaches of European Union law are identified. Consequently, the Commission sent infringement notices to a number of Member States in 2018 for not correctly applying the Directive.
