	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/11/2021 answer text <p>Services are the predominant driver of the UK economy, contributing 80% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2019 and employing over 26 million people (approximately 80% of total employment). Our Free Trade Agreement (FTA) programme continually seeks a gold standard in services and digital trade, providing greater access to overseas markets for UK service businesses and making it easier to trade digitally.</p><p> </p><p>Using our newly independent seat at the World Trade Organization (WTO), the UK is also actively engaged in a range of multilateral and plurilateral fora designed to further liberalise trade in services and create global rules for digital trade. Alongside the WTO, the UK also uses other multilateral groups such as the G7 and G20 to drive forward our ambitious trade agenda. Most recently, the UK led the G7’s first ever ‘trade track’, bringing countries together to agree a set of ground-breaking Digital Trade Principles.</p><p> </p><p>The Department also has a range of programmes designed to help British companies export. The recently announced Export Strategy outlines our ambition for trade in services, supported by promoting the role of services and digital trade within our FTA negotiations. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/04/2022 answer text <p>UK trade flows are increasing, with the latest figures showing that in the 12 months ending February 2022 UK exports were up almost £50bn (8.2%) compared to the previous 12 months, whilst imports were up 15.6%.</p><p> </p><p>Since the beginning of 2020 UK trade flows have largely been lower, driven by factors associated with the COVID pandemic, global recession, supply chain disruption, and adjustment to a new trading environment.</p><p> </p><p>The impact of the global recession hit the UK harder than many other countries, in part because of our specialisation in services, which have been more negatively affected by COVID than goods production. The guidance, which is available on GOV.UK, also provides information on potential risks including human rights issues, bribery and corruption, terrorism, criminal activity and intellectual property. Section 6.1 of the guidance for China was updated on 12 January 2021 following a change in the government’s policy on Xinjiang.</p><p>HMG is keen to encourage businesses to share their perspectives on how they are responding to the situation in Xinjiang.
