Rail use is at its highest level since the 1920s: 1.65 billion passenger journeys were made in Great Britain on franchised passenger trains in 2014-15. star this property answer text <p>Network Rail is carrying out the work to improve the Walsall to Rugeley Trent Valley Line. They have advised that £27.3m has been incurred so far on the project to electrify the line. Work carried out to date has included the structures clearance work, detailed design of the electrification system, and the contract award to ABC Electrification, the main contractor.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The route clearance work is substantially complete and has gone well. This has involved 5 bridges being reconstructed, and 11 track lowerings being undertaken. The remaining significant civil engineering work is to lift the headroom in Park St Tunnel, Walsall, which is scheduled to be carried out from October 2015 to May 2016.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>An interfacing scheme (journey time improvement between Ryecroft and Rugeley) is currently in the detailed design phase.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Elizabeth line, being constructed by Crossrail, will be a high-frequency metro-style train service, and will carry an estimated 200 million passengers a year.</p><p> </p><p>The vast majority of journeys will be of a short duration and on board toilets would take up a significant amount of space.</p><p> </p><p>It is therefore not intended that toilets will be provided on the new trains as these would displace approximately 600 passengers per hour. 80 per cent of stations on the Elizabeth line will have toilet facilities.</p> more like this

There is one legacy 0845 850 0095 DVLA Drivers Medical Enquiries fax number published on GOV.UK which is retained for legacy reasons in case some literature with this number is still in circulation. Other numbers have transitioned to 0300 numbers which are charged at standard geographic rate (the same as 01 or 02 numbers) and are free as part of &quot;inclusive minute&quot; packages. star this property answer text <p>In our manifesto we committed to improve compensation for delayed rail passengers and the Spending Review reiterated this. We have already changed the system to get compensation paid in cash, not travel vouchers, and we are putting new compensation obligations like automatic delay/repay into future franchise specifications.</p><br /><p>We will negotiate hard with rail operators to get even better compensation arrangements for passengers and are considering options on this at the moment.</p><br /> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Department receives information on each franchised operators’ performance against respective benchmarks every four weeks. Delays and Peak Short formations have not exceeded the Default Performance level as defined in the Franchise Agreement. However, GTR exceeded the breach performance level for cancellations last year and the Secretary of State issued Govia Thameslink Railway with a Remedial Plan Notice requiring them to set out the measures they will take in order to improve performance. Subsequently, the Secretary of State has accepted the Remedial Plan that sets out the steps the operator is taking to improve their performance.</p><p> </p> more like this
