star this property answer text <p>It is not our practice to publish ministerial correspondence.</p><p>The Ministry of Justice has a note of the meeting of 22 February 2016 when the then Justice Secretary met the Honourable Member and your constituent Tina Trowhill to discuss baby ashes and cremation practices. A civil servant attended the meeting.</p><p>The Government has made clear that historic infant cremation practices must never be repeated. That is why we took decisive action, following a well-received consultation, to introduce a statutory definition of ashes and modernise crematoria processes. Other work is in hand.</p><p>Hull City Council has decided against a local investigation, and has made substantial improvements to cremation processes.</p> more like this

Hull City Council has explained that engagement with the relevant NHS Trusts was not necessary in these cases as the Council itself had the paperwork, which it provided to the parents.</p> more like this
