star this property answer text <p>All departments are equipping themselves with the resources they need to get the best deal for the UK. The Department for Exiting the European Union now has over 600 staff based in the UK plus the expertise of over 120 officials in Brussels. We regularly review headcount to ensure that we are appropriately staffed to deal with all aspects of the negotiations.</p><p>The Department is responsible for overseeing EU exit negotiations, as well as establishing the future relationship between the UK and EU. As such, all staff in the Department are dedicated to planning or supporting our work on EU exit.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>As part of our work preparing to make a success of our departure from the European Union we are undertaking a broad range of sectoral analysis covering the entirety of the UK economy, including the chemicals industry.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is committed to the best possible deal for the United Kingdom - a deal that works for the entirety of the UK economy. We have been engaging with businesses and industry bodies from all sectors of the economy in order to inform our negotiations with the EU. On 17th November 2016 government officials attended the Chemical Industries Association Conference and on 6th November 2017 I met with CIA representatives to further understand the opportunities and challenges for the chemicals sector as a result of the UK’s exit from the EU. The UK chemicals sector is a strategically important industry for our country. In the UK, we are global leaders, and we are determined that we continue to be world-leading in this space.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>As we look to build our future customs relationship with the EU and the rest of the world, we start from a strong position. As a large trading nation, we possess a world-class customs system which handles imports and exports from all over the world, and not just the EU.</p><p>The government is seeking a mutually beneficial customs agreement and is committed to securing the most frictionless trading relationship possible.As part of this, HM Treasury and HMRC are giving due consideration to the implementation requirements of any options for the UK’s future customs arrangements. This includes the costs associated with updating IT systems to ensure we have a fully functioning customs regime following our exit from the EU.</p><p>The UK’s Customs Authority already works hard to ensure that trade is as fast and frictionless as possible and was ranked 5th globally in the World Bank’s 2016 Logistics Performance Index on Customs.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>During negotiations and as part of a reciprocal deal, we are looking to protect the healthcare rights of both UK-insured individuals who are living in the EU and of EU-insured individuals who are living in the UK before the specified date.</p><p>The UK will seek to protect the reciprocal healthcare arrangements which enable UK residents to obtain a European Health Insurance Card, allowing them to benefit from free, or reduced cost, needs-arising healthcare while on a temporary stay in the EU.</p><p>The UK is also seeking to protect EU healthcare arrangements that enable those who have moved to the EU and continue to receive a UK benefit or draw a UK state pension to receive healthcare cover by the UK in their country of residence.</p><p>We will also seek to protect EU citizens’ eligibility for NHS funded healthcare in the UK and vice versa for UK nationals in the EU. Those who present valid documentation receive treatment on the NHS, the cost of which is reimbursed to the UK by the member state which provides the individual’s insurance.</p><p> </p>
