The Mandate Resettlement Scheme also allows those recognised by the UNCHR as refugees to join close family members here in the UK.</p><p><br>We always aim to resettle families referred to the UK’s resettlement schemes by the UNHCR as close as possible to any family members already here in the UK, however this is subject to the availability of suitable and sustainable accommodation and relevant support services in that area.</p><p><br>We are working with key stakeholders and international partners on our future Asylum and Resettlement Strategy. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/07/2018 answer text <p>In resettlement, the UK works according to the humanitarian principles of impartiality and neutrality which means that we do not take into consideration the ethno-religious origins of people requiring assistance as we resettle solely on the basis of needs, identified by UNHCR through their established submission categories.</p><p>We believe that one way to protect the privacy of those being resettled and ensure their recovery and integration is to limit the amount of information about them that we make publicly available. We therefore do not believe it is appropriate to publish a religious and ethnic breakdown of those who have been resettled.</p><p>We are working with UNHCR and other partners to intensify their outreach to groups that might otherwise be reluctant to register for fear of stigma/discrimination and unaware of the safe space and options available to them. This includes all religious minorities.</p><p>In all of the countries from which we resettle Syrian refugees, mobile registration teams, outreach teams, and Help Desks for areas where different minority groups are concentrated are used to facilitate registration and access to services. In July 2017 we took the decision to extend the scope of the scheme to include refugees who have fled the conflict in Syria but do not have Syrian nationality.</p><p> </p><p>The latest published statistics show that by the end of September 2018 13,961 people have been resettled under the VPRS since the scheme began in 2014.</p><p> </p><p>Progress on resettlement is reported in the quarterly immigration statistics. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/06/2018 answer text <p>The Home Office continuously reviews the operation of the Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme and uses feedback from delivery partners and stakeholders to drive improvements.</p><p>The Department has mechanisms in place to identify and share best practice and will continue to do this. We are grateful to those who have welcomed refugees into their communities, arranging accommodation and supporting their integration under this and other schemes to date, and will continue to work closely with local authorities and Strategic Migration Partnerships to encourage participation and convert pledges into resettlement places for refugees.</p><p>The Home Office publishes the number of resettlements under the Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme as part of the Immigration Statistics Quarterly Release, available at <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/immigration-statistics-quarterly-release" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/immigration-statistics-quarterly-release</a>. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/05/2018 answer text <p>Syrian Refugees in the UK have the same family reunion rights as all those granted refugee leave or humanitarian protection in the UK. Our Refugee Family Reunion rules are consistent for all nationalities.</p><p>Our family reunion policy allows immediate pre-flight family members of those granted protection here to reunite with Refugees in the UK. The Immigration Rules also provide for relatives with protection in the UK to sponsor children in serious and compelling circumstances. In addition, there is provision in the policy to grant visas outside the Rules in exceptional circumstances, which caters for extended family members who otherwise do not qualify under the Rules, for example, those fleeing conflict zones such as Syria who are unable to live safely anywhere else. All those granted family reunion visas have the right to work, study and to access benefits.</p><p>We are listening carefully to concerns raised on this issue and are currently reviewing our approach to family reunion as part of the Government’s wider asylum and resettlement strategy.
